After a three-week gap, Lesnik’s Long Shots is back to point punters in the direction of a tempting-looking bet at odds of more than 10/1.
The last instalment saw me tip heavy underdogs Malmo to secure a 2-2 draw against Rangers at Ibrox at odds of 22/1.
Unfortunately, Malmo delivered an upset – but earned a 1-0 away win rather than a 2-2 draw.
That said, I am not too disheartened – the beauty of long-shots is that when you win you win big, although the flip-side is you might have to absorb some losses before landing a killer blow.
With this in mind, I’m back for more and am tipping Southampton to beat Ipswich having been behind at half time, with this bet also available at odds of 22/1 with bwin.
Unconvinced? Well here are a couple of juicy facts which may make you think otherwise…
- Last season, just 33 per cent of Southampton’s goals were scored in the first half. With 58 of 86 coming after the break, the Saints are far more likely to hit the back of the net towards the end of the game.
- On the other hand, Southampton were more prone to conceding in the first half in the last campaign, with 21 of the 37 goals they let in being scored before the half-time interval.
- Meanwhile, Ipswich were more likely to concede after the break last season, suggesting they are vulnerable to a comeback should they take the lead.
Assuming Ipswich will be fired up after two recent home losses, I’m backing them to start at a high tempo and be ahead at the half-time whistle.
History then suggests that Southampton will come roaring back to take the win.
A successful £25 free bet on Southampton to win after being behind at half-time, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £575.
But given the returns on offer, it might be worth a cheeky fiver even if you’re already a signed-up bwin customer and news.bwin.com/en/ fan to boot.
