Antonio Di Natale to score against Cesena @ 9/10
It wouldn’t be an anytime goalscorer treble without including Antonio Di Natale, would it?
The veteran Italian striker is enjoying an Indian summer like few others, scoring goals for fun over the last few seasons at the grand old age of 34. Di Natale scored in every Udinese home match in 2011 except the last one of the year, a 0-0 draw against Juventus, and he can start 2012 the way he spent 2011 by scoring at home to Cesena.
While Udinese are just two points from the summit of Serie A, Cesena are second bottom with just 12 points having lost six of their eight away games. Udinese have won seven of their eight home matches and at a shade under evens, Di Natale can add to his ten goals this season and to Cesena’s misery.
Sergio Aguero to score against Manchester United @7/5
The undoubted tie of the FA Cup third round pitches the two Manchester giants together for the first time since City demolished United 6-1 at Old Trafford in October and though nobody expects that scoreline again, history may repeat itself in one way.
Sergio Aguero scored the third in that rout and I fancy him at 7/5 to hit the net again. The little Argentine has 15 goals this season and will be relishing facing a United defence that is in such disarray.
The Red Devils have conceded six goals in two games: worrying enough at any time for a team of United’s calibre, but the fact the goals were let in at home to Blackburn and away at Newcastle will set alarm bells ringing. Injuries in defence and an unsettled team has played its part, but with that unlikely to change on Sunday, Aguero can profit once more.
Pablo Osvaldo to score against Chievo @ 6/5
Pablo Osvaldo has so far justified his big summer transfer fee and looks a decent bet to continue his fine start to his Roma career with a goal against mid-table Chievo.
The €15m signing from Spanish side Espanyol is enjoying life back in Italy, scoring seven goals in 14 appearances for i Giallorossi and the Argentina international will be looking to pick up where he left off before Serie A’s winter break, where he scored in Roma’s last two matches.
Osvaldo will particularly fancy his chances against a Chievo side who are enduring a poor season on the road. They have a 1-2-5 record away from home this season, conceding 14 goals in the process. Four of those defeats have come in the last six, where they have shipped 12 goals, and with Roma having scored in every home match so far this term, Osvaldo can add to his tally.
