While every cup from the FA Cup to the Copa del Rey throws up some memorable shocks, it’s hard to see how Bolton, Kilmarnock and Espanyol won’t find a way past underdog opponents in their various Tuesday night ties.
If they all win inside 90 minutes, then new customers using the free £25 bet they receive when registering with bwin would win £74.25:
Bolton v Macclesfield (FA Cup 3rd round replay)
3Way football betting odds: Bolton 1/4 Draw 9/2 Macclesfield 21/2
While Bolton were lucky to escape from Moss Rose with a replay, it’s unlikely that Macclesfield will be able to pose as much of a threat at the Reebok Stadium.
Owen Coyle’s side continue to struggle in the Premier League, but the visit of a side who’ve won just three times away in League Two this season should provide the ideal confidence boost.
Given Wanderers only scraped past their visitors 2-1 in the Carling Cup earlier this season, the game may be closer than expected. But despite the departure of Gary Cahill to Chelsea, his fellow England international Kevin Davies and the likes of Nigel Reo-Coker should have too much experience to slip up this time out.
Selection: Bolton to win @ 1/4
Kilmarnock v Dundee (Scottish Cup 4th round replay)
3Way football betting odds: Kilmarnock 13/20 Draw 27/10 Dundee 4/1
Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels would have been wary of an upset ahead of his side’s fourth-round tie with First Division high-flyers Dundee, but having taken them to a replay he’ll be confident that his men can get the job done at home.
The hosts have a proud record at Rugby Park, taking four points off the Old Firm sides this season and the likes of Chelsea loanee Ben Gordon and Spanish U20 international Jorge Galan will surely have enough quality to see the eight-time finalists into round five.
Selection: KIlmarnock to win @ 13/20
Espanyol v Mirandes (Copa del Rey Quarter-Final 1st leg)
3Way football betting odds: Espanyol 11/25 Draw 3/1 Mirandes 7/1
Segunda B side Mirandes have put together a miraculous run to reach this stage of Spain’s premier cup competition, including wins over two teams with recent European experience in Villarreal and Racing Santander.
But that run will surely come to halt against an Espanyol side who won the Copa del Rey in 2006 and have lost just twice at home in La Liga this season.
However, they should be aware of the competition’s top scorer, Pablo Infante, and given that Mirandes have scored in every Copa del Rey game so far, punters looking for longer odds should consider an Espanyol win in a game with over 2.5 goals at 27/20 with bwin.
But for the purposes of our treble, I’ll be backing the hosts to build a lead at an expectant Cornella-El Prat.
Selection: Espanyol to win @ 11/25
