With games in the FA Cup, Champions League, Championship, League One and League Two this evening, there is more than enough choice to put together a winning midweek Banker Treble. Here’s why punters should consider backing wins for Tottenham, Shrewsbury and Real Madrid with the £25 bet they can get by signing up for a new account, with the treble set to return £65.75 if it proves successful.
Tottenham to beat Bolton @ 3/10
Bolton might be going into this FA Cup tie against Tottenham as the form team, but Spurs should still have more than enough to see off the Trotters and set up a semi-final against Chelsea at Wembley. Owen Coyle’s side have won their last two games at home but their away form remains a cause for concern: they have lost their last four matches on the road against top-flight opposition without so much as scoring a goal. Spurs might still be some way off their fluent best but they have won the last five meetings between the two teams at White Hart Lane, including a 3-0 league success over the Trotters in December. With key players Aaron Lennon and Ledley King back in contention for the Lilywhites, they can be counted on to continue their home superiority against Coyle’s charges.
Real Madrid to beat APOEL @ 1/4
When APOEL coach Ivan Jovanovic admits that even the “perfect game may not be enough” for his team to beat Real Madrid this evening, you know that Los Blancos are ideally placed to earn a first leg advantage over their Champions League quarter-final opponents in Cyprus this evening. While the minnows have impressed in reaching the last eight, they should more than meet their match against a Real side who have won seven of their eight European fixtures so far this season. In the one that got away, Real were only denied victory when CSKA’s Pontus Wernbloom scored a last-minute equaliser in Moscow on an artificial pitch and in freezing temperatures; on grass and in the warmer climes of Cyprus, Mourinho’s men are unlikely to be so accommodating. With their records in La Liga and the Champions League combined this season, Real have won 84 per cent of their matches. Having warmed up with a 5-1 win over Real Sociedad at the weekend, and with Cristiano Ronaldo bang in form – the Portuguese has scored 14 goals in his last ten appearances for the Spanish giants – Los Blancos are surely heading for yet another victory here.
Shrewsbury to beat Port Vale @ 31/50
Along with Manchester City, Shrewsbury are the only club in the football league with an unbeaten home record. The Shrews have picked up 14 wins and four draws from 18 attempts, scoring 30 goals and conceding just ten in the process. While this points to a home win on its own, the fact that Graham Turner’s men are up against Port Vale should also help their cause. The Valiants have lost their last two on the road and three of their last four all told, making Shrewsbury ideal candidates to form the third leg of this Banker Treble tripod.
