Anderlecht to beat St Truiden @ 7/20
Anderlecht beat St Truiden 3-1 at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium in November and on Sunday they travel to the Stayen for the return fixture.
Since that victory, Anderlecht have lost only one game in the Belgian Jupiler League and are eight points clear at the top of the table. They are unbeaten in their last 12 league games, winning nine of them and drawing three. On top of this, they have won their last four meetings against St Truiden, scoring two or more goals on each occasion.
The hosts have won only three games all season and have spent most of the campaign rooted to the foot of the table. Last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Waregem might have lifted them off the foot of the table for the time being, but it was their first win in 13 games and only their second home win of the entire season.
Beating Waregem is one thing. Beating Anderlecht is quite another. This should be a comfortable away win to boost your coffers.
AZ Alkmaar to beat NAC @ 1/5
Dutch Eredivisie leaders AZ Alkmaar go into Sunday’s tie with NAC looking to defend their unbeaten home record and extend their three-point lead at the top of the table.
Alkmaar have won ten out of 12 home games this season, drawing the other two and losing none. In fact, they haven’t lost a league match at home since February 12th last year – more than 13 months. They have won seven of their last nine in all competitions and with Ajax hot on their heels, they can’t afford to take their foot off the gas.
NAC Breda, on the other hand, have lost ten out of 12 away matches this season, winning only once, and they have failed to score in four of their last five away matches. Their only away win came way back on September 16th and they haven’t avoided defeat on the road since a draw with Ajax in mid-November.
With home advantage, it’s difficult to see anything other than an Alkmaar win.
Man Utd to beat Wolves @ 33/100
Manchester United are experts at hitting a run of form at just the right time in the season and this year appears no different as Fergie’s perennial challengers rose to the Premier League summit with a comfortable win over West Brom last Sunday.
United have won nine of their last ten Premier League matches and have more experience than any other team in the league of how to grind out important away wins at the business end of the season.
Wolves, on the other hand, are in dire straits. Their bemusing decision to replace Mick McCarthy with Terry Connor has backfired spectacularly so far, as they followed up a 5-0 defeat at Fulham with a 2-0 home reverse against struggling Blackburn last Saturday to sink deeper into the relegation mire.
They have won just one of their last 15 in all competitions and must be dreading the sight of Sir Alex’s high-flyers. United should stroll this one.
