Juventus to beat Cesena @ 1/4
Following several years of turmoil in the wake of the Calciopoli scandal, Juventus look as though they are becoming an unstoppable force once in Serie A again.
Yet to lose this season, the Old Lady were top of table before the weekend’s action kicked off, having already beaten AC Milan and Inter Milan.
In the new Juventus Stadium, they have scored 14 goals and only allowed five into their own net in six games. And with players like Alessandro Matri, Claudio Marchisio and Simone Pepe boasting six, five and four goals to their names respectively, plus the presence of Giorgio Chiellini and keeper Gianluigi Buffon in their back line, it is easy to see why they have proved tough opponents.
This Sunday sees them host 19th-placed Cesena, who, in an ominous sign, have never beaten Juventus before. It could be argued that they are in form after winning their last two games, but so far this season they have managed just one goal away from home. Surely this is one of those games that Banker Treblea are made for!
Schalke 04 to beat Augsburg @ 7/20
After their surprisingly poor league form last term, Schalke have returned to the upper echelons of the Bundesliga in the opening weeks of the new season.
The Gelsenkirchen side are sat in place, six points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich with a game in hand.
Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Hunterlaar is in top form, having scored 12 in 13 league games thus far. Their home form has also improved, including a 4-0 hammering of Nuremberg in their last Bundesliga match at the Veltins-Arena.
Facing up to them this week are FC Augsburg, who are rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga. They have only faced Schalke once previously, in a DFB-Pokal match last year, with Schalke coming out as winners on that occasion.
Picking up away points has proved tricky for Augsburg, having conceded 11 goals on the road, and with only two wins to their name all season, they look very unlikely to pose many problems for Schalke.
Paris Saint-Germain to beat Auxerre @ 1/2
After the massive spending spree of their new Qatari owners this summer, PSG have talent coming out of their ears.
Recruits such as Javier Pastore, Diego Lugano, Kevin Gameiro and Jeremy Menez – to name but a few – have helped the capital club return towards the summit of Ligue 1.
At the Parc des Princes, PSG have scored 13 goals in eight matches, while opponents Auxerre have only scored six away from home.
Auxerre are currently sitting in 16th place after losing five of their last six matches and they have only managed to win three league games all season.
PSG have the added incentive of moving second in the table with victory and at odds of 1/2, it’s hard to resist a punt on them to come up trumps.
