Tottenham to beat Watford @ 11/25
Spurs will make changes to their side and give a few players the weekend off with an important Premier League game at home to Wigan on Tuesday looming. But these days Tottenham’s second string is as strong as some other top-flight sides’ first eleven, with nine full internationals starting in the win over Cheltenham in the previous round. Watford have conceded a lot of goals at Vicarage Road this season (20 in 14 Championship home fixtures, to be precise) and come into the game on a run of three successive league defeats. Spurs should be too strong.

Arsenal to beat Aston Villa @ 11/20
The Emirates is not a happy place at the moment, with the fans frustrated with boss Arsene Wenger’s selection policy, not to mention his inactivity in the transfer market. Yet despite losing at home to Manchester United last weekend, the Gunners remain difficult to beat in their own back yard. Villa’s recent away record has been respectable, but the Arsenal team will want to produce a result to silence the critics and show they are still a force to be reckoned with. A tight home win looks likely.

Sunderland to beat Middlesbrough @ 18/25
A resurgent Sunderland take on local rivals Middlesbrough, who have suffered an alarming dip in form in recent weeks. Boro were flying high in the Championship, but three defeats in a row, including a 3-1 loss at bottom club Coventry last weekend, have seen them stall somewhat. By contrast, Martin O’Neill has been working his magic with the Black Cats and four wins in their last five has seen confidence return to the Stadium of Light outfit. Given the respective form of the two sides, plus the considerable advantage of a passionate home crowd, a Sunderland win looks like a banker.
