Aston Villa to beat Swansea @ 3/4
On a high after their 3-1 win at Chelsea on Saturday, Aston Villa should go on to take care of the league’s worst away side. The Swans have only picked up three points from their nine games outside of Wales and that is unlikely to change in Birmingham.
Villa have players hitting form all over the field and their triumph at Stamford Bridge saw three different goalscorers in Stephen Ireland, Stiliyan Petrov and Darren Bent. Having goals coming from midfield could be key as Alex McLeish’s side look to score past in-form keeper Michel Vorm.
In their history, these sides have met just seven times at Villa Park in competitive fixtures, with Villa not even conceding in any of those matches. Against one of the lowest-scoring sides in the country this year, the Villans should have enough in the tank to get the job done.
Chelsea to beat Wolves @ 11/20
To say Andre Villas-Boas needs a win is probably one of the biggest understatements of 2012 so far. But his Chelsea side should end a run of four winless matches by defeating a Wolves team on an even worse run. They haven’t won in five games since a 2-1 success over Sunderland, with that win representing their only victory in their last eight Premier League fixtures.
These two met in the capital earlier in the season, with the Portuguese enjoying a rare comfortable win as Wolves went home as 3-0 losers.
Wolves have already conceded 18 goals in the six matches they have played against sides in the top five this season, proving that their defence can’t cope with the top strike forces.
Chelsea’s remain dangerous on the break away from home and with Mick McCarthy’s men likely to go for their throats, they should therefore be able to pick off the hosts at Molineux.
Celtic to beat Dunfermline @ 13/50
With Celtic chasing their tenth SPL win in a row, there is no better place to find it than at East End Park, where home side Dunfermline have yet to win this season. The newly-promoted side have played nine times in front of their own fans in the SPL, but with little to show for it.
Still buzzing from their win in last week’s Old Firm derby, which saw the Hoops go top of the SPL, the Glasgow side can expect not just three points from this one, but a decent contribution to their goal difference as well. It would take a small miracle to see them lose their position at the top during the course of Monday.
