In last week’s acca, we looked for a few supposed ‘sure things’, but Everton decided to turn their brilliant form on its head and lose at Reading. How inconsiderate, eh?
This week we look to the Football League (even League One) and our old favourite sure-fire ending of a late win from La Liga.
With the managerial merry-go-round in full swing, we have kept well clear of the Premier League this week. Thank God Roman Abramovich doesn’t own bwin, or else a failure this week might cost me my… what’s that? A phone call from the new owner? Why not…
Should you agree with the following selections, then £228 will be your reward for placing the free £20 bet you receive for signing up to bwin today on this four-match acca.
Blackburn to beat Millwall @ Evens
In all honesty, this match is a very tough one to call. Millwall have been in brilliant form lately, but this punter is banking on the opinion that the Lions are punching above their weight and with the goalscoring prowess of Jordan Rhodes, Rovers will fancy their chances of a home win.
The Scotland international has scored nine times in 14 appearances since his move from Huddersfield, including his first hat-trick for the club in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Peterborough.
Kenny Jackett’s men have done well in recent weeks and have lost just twice in eight away games, but Rovers have won five from eight at Ewood Park.
This is the first meeting between the two in over two decades, and after that morale-boosting success against Posh, I reckon another win for Blackburn here is relatively academic.
Crystal Palace to beat Leeds @ 7/5
This match throws up the most in-form side in the Championship against the least in-form as Crystal Palace travel to Leeds.
Something is going horribly wrong at Elland Road and Neil Warnock doesn’t seem to be able to stop the haemorrhaging of points.
This punter has backed Palace in each of the past two weeks and Ian Holloway’s lads have come up trumps, so a third week in a row will hopefully bring up a third result.
Leeds have lost against weaker teams than Palace in recent weeks, including Birmingham, Watford, Millwall and Burnley.
The battle between Warnock and Holloway is always fascinating and the latter has already beaten Leeds this season with Blackpool before his move to Selhurst Park.
Coventry to beat Portsmouth @ 9/10
Portsmouth have lost their last six games and that’s pretty much all you need to know about this fixture.
Pompey sit 21st in League One and having lost Michael Appleton to Blackpool, they suddenly resemble the sitting ducks of the division, especially when they travel to the Coventry City Stadium on Saturday.
Coventry have improved in recent weeks after a poor start to the season, winning four of their last six and moving up to 15th.
The Sky Blues have only won two of their eight home games, but they have won four of their last six overall and Portsmouth’s horrific form means most teams should be backed against them, including Mark Robins’ charges.
Real Madrid to beat Real Betis @ 1/4
A rather simple one to finish, with Jose Mourinho’s team sure to get the three points at Real Betis Balompie.
Real are actually the in-form team in La Liga, ahead of Barcelona on goal difference over the last six games, but as they still have some serious catching up to do, they cannot let up as they head to Seville.
Los Blancos have been firing on all cylinders since their early-season stumble, winning three of their last four away games and their last five in La Liga.
Betis started the season relatively well themselves, but got battered 5-1 by bitter rivals Sevilla in the derby last weekend and surely cannot expect to get anything from their match with the champions on Saturday.
