Liverpool to beat Blackburn @ 1/4
Liverpool have not been too convincing at home this season but a 1-0 win against QPR last time out will have given them the confidence to kick on and furore surrounding Luis Suarez’s impending eight-match ban will leave the Anfield fans itching for a win. Blackburn are rock-bottom of the Premier League and are without an away win this season, losing their last two, and look in no shape to stop the rot on Merseyside.
Southampton to beat Crystal Palace @ 1/2
High-flying Southampton will look to get back to winning ways following two draws and a defeat in their last three matches but in front of their own fans they been hugely impressive thus far – their 2-2 draw against Blackpool was the first time this season they had failed to win at St Mary’s. Palace do not score enough goals to keep up with Saints’ attacking power so expect Rickie Lambert and company to win this one comfortably.
Burnley to beat Doncaster @ 3/4
Burnley are one of the form sides in the Championship after putting together a run of four wins in five games. Their home form is by no means bullet-proof but a recent 4-0 win against Ipswich demonstrates that they have enough firepower to see off a Doncaster side who have lost their last three away matches. Donny have only won twice on the road all season – against Ipswich and Peterborough – and they have lost all their other away games.
Reading to beat Brighton @ 13/20
Brighton will be without two key players in Romain Vincelot and Ashley Barnes following their early sendings off last weekend and Reading’s home form indicates Brighton have it all to do. The Royals beat Championship favourites West Ham 3-0 last time out at the Madejski Stadium – their third home win in four matches – and Brighton have just one win in their last eight away, scoring just three goals in that time.
Huddersfield to beat Chesterfield @ 7/20
Fourth-placed Huddersfield were rescued by a 97th-minute equaliser at Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend but they will be much more convincing back on home soil, despite a surprise loss to Bournemouth in their last match at the Galpharm. Jordan Rhodes scored all four goals against Wednesday and he looks set to fire Huddersfield to victory here. Chesterfield are without an away win in six attempts and have picked up just one point in that time.
Crawley Town to beat Gillingham @ 11/20
High-flying and free-scoring Crawley make up the final leg of our festive accumulator following a run of three home wins and 12 goals scored. They have dropped just five points at the Broadfield Stadium all season and their scoring potential will not be matched by a Gillingham side who were held to a 0-0 draw at Macclesfield in their previous away fixture. Despite the Gills’ run of four away matches unbeaten, we fancy that to come to an end when they travel to the league leaders.
