Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios prediction & odds

Novak Djokovic has not quite looked at his best at Wimbledon but it is still hard to oppose him in the final against Nick Kyrgios.

The six-time champion has not lost a match at the All England Club since 2017 and has kept on doing just enough to get the job done this year.

We reckon 3.5 for the Serbian superstar to win 3-1 is the way to go with our first Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios prediction.

Novak Djokovic Odds

Djokovic did us a favour when recovering from a poor opening set to beat Cameron Norrie by the same scoreline in the semis, landing a 3.8 pay-out in our Wimbledon predictions.

That was a third 3-1 win so far, extending his run of successive grass-court victories to 27 and making him the first man to reach 32 grand slam finals, with 20 of his previous deciders ending in victory.

He declared: “Of course, I’m very satisfied and pleased that I am putting myself in a position to win the trophy.

“I didn’t start off as well as I did in most of my matches here in Wimbledon, didn’t feel so good at the beginning. A lot of mistakes. Just didn’t find my rhythm.

“Nerves were kicking in for both of us. He handled them better and was a better player for a set and a half.

“One poor game from his side at 4-3 second set, the match turned around.

“I know I always expect from myself that I can play better than I did, but I have to be pleased with this win.”

Djokovic has won at least one grand slam title – and more often than not two or three – each year since 2010 barring 2017, when he was dogged by elbow problems.

Due to vaccine issues in Australia and the US and a quarter-final loss at the French Open, this looks his only chance of a 2022 major.

The good news is, though, that he has only lost one of seven previous finals on Centre Court.

Looking at the Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios odds, the favourite is fancied to cut loose at some point, so 1.8 he wins at least five more games than his opponent appeals.

Nick Kyrgios Odds

Kyrgios earned more attention for his controversial antics in the early rounds but a 6-4 6-3 7-6 quarter-final triumph over Cristian Garin was a straightforward display of controlled aggression.

Getting a bye in the semis due to Rafael Nadal’s injury issues should also work in his favour, as the Australian ace has sometimes struggled with fatigue at the end of hard tournaments.

A stronger work ethic in training has helped on that front too, with the 27-year-old insisting: “I just feel like I’m more mature.

“I think everyone has the same goal in my team. That’s why it’s working. I made it pretty known to them that I wanted to go pretty deep here and possibly even raise the trophy.

“I feel like it’s literally just been as simple as getting some rest. Like, ‘Nick, stay in the house’. That’s not always been the easiest thing for me over my career.”

Kyrgios can take some heart from having won both previous meetings with Djokovic, although they were in 2017, when the latter was struggling, as mentioned above.

There is no doubting the Aussie has the game to trouble anyone, especially with his powerful serve working well, but a first grand slam final on Djokovic’s favourite court will be tough.

In 11 matches featuring either of these players over the past fortnight, only one has had a first-set tiebreak.

Given that stat, let’s add 3.75 for the favourite to win the opener 6-3 to our Novak Djokovic vs Nick Kyrgios betting tips.
