Australian Open: Day 8 betting tips for Melbourne grand slam

The first grand slam tournament of the year is in full swing and we’re picking out our top Australian Open 2018 betting predictions throughout the Melbourne event.

We’ve got a daily treble for punters to consider and are looking to follow up 17/10 and 7/2 pay-outs over the last couple of days with a 21/10 success from these three selections for Monday.

Simona Halep to beat Naomi Osaka @ 9/20

Halep said she was “almost dead” and needed sleep and chocolate after surviving 48 games and saving three match points in a 4-6 6-4 15-13 victory over Lauren Davis. However, that victory again highlighted a new-found resilience from the 26-year-old world No 1, who declared: “I think in the past I wouldn’t have fought that hard. Maybe when she had the match balls, maybe I would have lost it. It makes me really happy that I changed myself in a good way.”

Madison Keys to beat Caroline Garcia @ 31/50

US Open semi-finalist Keys is flying the flag for America Down Under after a series of opening-round shocks for some of her well-backed compatriots and completed a smooth first week by cruising past Ana Bogdan 6-3 6-4. “I think overall I was playing really well and pretty smart – I feel good about it,” said the 17th seed, who looks fresh after finishing her 2017 season early to protect a past wrist injury.

Tomas Berdych to beat Fabio Fognini @ 7/20

Berdych fired down 20 aces in a surprisingly one-sided 6-3 6-3 6-2 demolition of Juan Martin Del Potro to make the fourth round in Melbourne for the 10th time. The 2014 and 2015 semi-finalist has prevailed on the last six occasions he has reached this stage and is backed to be too powerful for Fognini. The latter did us a favour on Saturday but was not convincing in a five-set win over the soon-to-retire Julien Benneteau and is now opposed in our Australian Open 2018 betting tips.
