NFL Draft quarterbacks 2022: Willis backed to go first

We’re taking a look at the latest odds to see which of the NFL Draft quarterbacks 2022 will be selected first in Las Vegas this week.

The last four top picks have all been quarterbacks, with Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield going at No 1 overall.

The general consensus is that no signal caller is worthy of such a high spot this year, but the best playmakers will still be in demand and these are the favourites to go first:

MALIK WILLIS @ 1.64

The 22-year-old heads many NFL Draft QB rankings 2022 in terms of potential upside and is a modern-day dual threat playmaker. Willis led the Liberty Flames for two seasons after transferring from Auburn, passing for 27 touchdowns last year and running in another 13. Far from the finished article but the feeling is that he is the most likely to make a real difference at the next level. Carolina could be tempted with the sixth overall pick, while he would be a popular choice for hometown club Atlanta at eight.

KENNY PICKETT @ 2.3

Pickett is probably the most NFL-ready alternative from the quarterbacks available, so is sure to attract lots of attention. An old-school pocket-passer with a high football IQ, the 23-year-old really came to the fore in his fifth year at Pittsburgh, posting single-season Panthers records with 4,319 yards and 42 touchdowns. Polled third in the Heisman Trophy voting and has been linked with Detroit, who hold the second overall pick, plus Pittsburgh, who could trade up.

DESMOND RIDDER @ 9.0

Possibly lacks as much scope for improvement as the two NFL Draft quarterbacks above him in the betting, but four years as a starter with Cincinnati makes him a veteran performer who has proven himself time and time again. Finished his Bearcats career with over 10,000 passing yards and 87 touchdowns through the air, plus he can run as well, adding on 2,180 yards and 28 TDs on the ground.

MATT CORRAL @ 26.0

The 22-year-old is another contender to be the first quarterback taken after making steady progress throughout his time with the Ole Miss Rebels. A fast release and above-average mobility earned Corral some comparisons with the great John Elway, but it would be a bit of a stretch to take those aspirations seriously.
