Winnipeg have won four of their last five games but we haven’t forgotten how Washington brushed the Jets aside 5-2 in Canada a month ago.
Admittedly, that match took place hours after Paul Maurice had resigned, but the Capitals were still convincing victors due to their superior speed.
We’re sticking with Washington to come out on top in regular time again at 2.15 to kick off our NHL predictions.

Washington’s subsequent form has been patchy, with Peter Laviolette’s side going 3-4-2 from nine outings.
The Capitals were beaten 4-2 by Vancouver here on Sunday but won 2-0 away to the New York Islanders the previous day.
Against the Canucks, prolific marksman Alex Ovechkin felt Washington wasted too many scoring opportunities.
“We have great chances to score,” said the Russian. “Obviously, we didn’t, so we move on.”
Even so, we still believe the Capitals are favoured by this clash of styles and can overrun the Jets going forward.
Looking at the 3.0 for a home win and over 5.5 total goals in the game.

Winnipeg will be happy with how they have fared under interim coach Dave Lowry, who has a 4-1-0 record to his credit.
The Jets have had some kind fixtures, though, with their last couple of victories coming at Arizona and Detroit.
Lowry was delighted with a 3-0 triumph over the Red Wings, declaring: “The resilience of our group was outstanding. Our penalty kill, our goaltending – just outstanding.
“I liked the energy our young guys brought – and our top guys stepped up and played like our best players.”
However, in between those victories, Winnipeg were thrashed 7-1 at Colorado and could have their limitations exposed by another top-10 outfit at Capital One Arena.
Seven of the visitors’ last nine defeats have come by more than one clear goal, so 19.0 for a 4-2 scoreline.
