Winnipeg Jets vs Pittsburgh Penguins predictions

Face-off: 2030 ET, 22/11/2021

Venue: Canada Life Centre

Winnipeg will be glad to get back on home ice as they host Pittsburgh following a couple of narrow away defeats.

The Jets are still second in the Western Central division thanks to a great record of seven wins and a draw from nine outings at Canada Life Centre this season.

We’re taking 2.30 for Paul Maurice’s side to prevail in regular time again here to open our Winnipeg Jets vs Pittsburgh Penguins predictions.

Winnipeg Jets Odds

Winnipeg were edged out 2-1 in an Edmonton shoot-out before going down 3-2 in Vancouver on back-to-back nights.

However, they had previously rattled off a hat-trick of home wins in the space of six days and are 5-0-0 in front of their own fans this month.

Juggling time zones is always an obstacle in this section but Maurice was buoyed by a slick showing in practice over the weekend.

“We moved really good, better than I thought we would, based on the time zone change,” he said on the club website. “These guys are good pros.”

The Jets will come up against opponents who have found a bit of form themselves, though, so this could prove another close encounter.

Looking at the NHL odds for this match, we like 8.00 for Winnipeg to oblige by a one-goal margin.

Pittsburgh Penguins Odds

Pittsburgh are second from bottom in the Eastern Metropolitan division but will be seeking to make it a hat-trick of Canadian scalps here.

The Penguins pummelled Montreal 6-0 and then saw off Toronto 2-0, with Tristan Jarry making 26 saves in his latest shut-out.

Jarry was quick to share the credit, stating: “The guys are doing a great job getting blocks, getting clears when we need to. I think that has been the key to our success.”

Both of those games were at Scotiabank Arena, though, and it is slightly worrying that Pittsburgh were put under plenty of pressure by the Maple Leafs.

One positive for the Penguins, though, has been the form of defenceman Bryan Rust, who has four assists in the last three games.

Let’s finish off our NHL predictions for this contest by taking 2.55 for Rust to have another here.
