Seattle Kraken vs Vancouver Canucks predictions

Face-off: 2200 ET, 01/01/2022

Venue: Climate Pledge Arena

Vancouver’s hot streak ended with a shoot-out loss in Los Angeles but they are still expected to prove too strong for Seattle on the road.

The Canucks claimed a 4-2 victory at Climate Pledge Arena back in October and return in better form under new boss Bruce Boudreau.

We reckon 1.87 for an away win on the money line is a solid selection for our Seattle Kraken vs Vancouver Canucks predictions.

Seattle Kraken Odds

Seattle are halfway through a five-match homestand following the Covid-inspired Christmas break and things have not gone to plan so far.

The Kraken were edged out 3-2 in overtime by Philadelphia on Wednesday and then went down 6-4 to Calgary the following night.

Mark Giordano scored three points against the Flames, having spent 15 seasons with them before being claimed in the expansion draft.

He and Calle Jarnkrok each had a goal and two assists during a plucky performance which left head coach Dave Hakstol relatively content.

“Our guys fought extremely hard and we battled hard on a night we were playing back to back,” Hakstol said.

“There’s no excuses in the room, there’s no consolation prizes that we’re looking for, so there’s no soft landing.

“But call it for what it is, our guys battled extremely hard and continued to fight back.”

We earned a nice pay-out for going with an away win and both teams to score at least twice in our preview of that contest.

Looking at the 4.1 for the same bet catches the eye.

Vancouver Canucks Odds

Boudreau’s honeymoon period as Vancouver coach reached 7-0 before the Canucks backed up a 2-1 overtime win at Anaheim by losing out to the same scoreline in a Los Angeles shoot-out.

The 66-year-old clearly doesn’t believe in allowing his players a blip, though, as he declared: “We were horrible.”

Forward Conor Garland was less critical, commenting: “Just didn’t find our legs for a while there but we fought back in the third and got a point out of it.”

However, the Canucks should receive a major boost here by having Thatcher Demko back in goal instead of Jaroslav Halak.

Halak’s record slipped to 1-4-2 against the Kings, whereas Demko is 14-11-1 after helping his team to edge out the Ducks.

Let’s finish off our NHL predictions by taking 8.0 for the Canucks to win by one goal in regulation play for the fourth time under Boudreau.
