Face-off: 1530 ET, 26/11/2021
Venue: Xcel Energy Center
Minnesota acquitted themselves adequately on a three-game road trip and will now be keen to kick on during a five-match home stretch.
The Wild head the Western Central division with a 12-6-1 record and have the chance to pull further clear of third-placed Winnipeg.
Dean Evason’s side get the nod at 2.2 to prevail in regular time in our Minnesota Wild vs Winnipeg Jets predictions.
Minnesota Wild Odds
After a narrow loss away to Florida and an overtime defeat at Tampa Bay, Minnesota finally shaded a tight one when visiting New Jersey.
Ryan Hartman and Nico Sturm put the Wild in control early on but the Devils tied it up with a late rally in the third.
However, Cam Talbot proved Minnesota’s hero in a shoot-out, adding to his 40 saves in open play on a stellar night.
That victory was made all the more noteworthy by having to overcome traffic problems which delayed the face-off by almost half an hour.
“This was an eventful road trip,” said forward Marcus Foligno. “We were able to get together, go to dinner, make some memories and learn more about each other.
“The legs were heavy for sure in that game, but we don’t let a lot of things get to us – we were playing ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ on the bus ride.”
Hartman has reached double figures after scoring in three of the last four games, passing his total for the whole of last season.
He seems full of confidence after establishing a settled role in Minnesota’s line-up, so appeals to grab at least one more point in the NHL odds on this contest.
Winnipeg Jets Odds
Winnipeg have gone four games without a win after again failing to take their chances in a 3-0 loss at Columbus.
Just four shots have hit the back of the net from 153 attempts during that barren run and head coach Paul Maurice admitted: “We’re in one, offensively.
“We’ve got good shooters missing nets on real opportunities…and we can’t have a defensive game like that, coupled with our offensive struggles right now.”
The Jets are showing plenty of fight and had only gone down narrowly in three previous outings, but now sit at 9-6-4.
Only three teams have conceded more times in the first period than Minnesota, though, so this could be a chance for Winnipeg to get off to a better start.
Let’s go with 2.8 for both teams to score in the opening 20 minutes in our NHL predictions, but Minnesota are taken to oblige by two goals overall at 7.5.
New Jersey 2-3 MINNESOTA (SO)
Columbus 3-0 WINNIPEG
Head-to-head: Minnesota 6-5 Winnipeg, Minnesota 3-2 Winnipeg, Minnesota 0-6 Winnipeg, Winnipeg 5-2 Minnesota
