Florida Panthers vs Ottawa Senators predictions

Face-off: 1900 ET, 14/11/2021

Venue: FLA Live Arena

Florida are flying high at the top of the Eastern Conference with 40 points, 23 more than second-from-bottom Ottawa ahead of their clash at FLA Live Arena.

The Panthers have also claimed convincing victories over the Senators in their last three head-to-meetings over the past couple of seasons.

Two of those were by a three-goal margin and 4.2 for that to happen again here heads up our Florida Panthers vs Ottawa Senators predictions.

Florida Panthers Odds

Florida failed to pick up a point for the first time in six outings when going down 3-2 away to in-form Colorado at Ball Arena.

Joe Thornton and Brandon Montour scored in a wild third period while Carter Verhaeghe provided both assists as the Panthers fought back from 2-0 behind.

However, Andre Burakovsky completed his hat-trick at 11:43 to help the Avalanche ultimately prevail.

“It’s a real fun place to play and they’re a real good team, so it was a good little challenge for us,” said head coach Andrew Brunette.

“We battled but I just didn’t think we were strong enough on the puck in the offensive zone to really sustain a lot of offence.”

Even so, there was no disgrace in that defeat against a team which had scored seven goals in each of their three previous matches.

Florida now return home, where they are 14-1-0 this term, and anything other than a smooth success would be a surprise.

The Panthers have netted a league-high 37 times in the third period, whereas Ottawa are a dismal 15-39 in the closing stanza.

Looking at the 2.4 for Florida to win P3 and over 1.5 goals to be scored in the final 20 minutes.

Ottawa Senators Odds

There has to be a word of warning that Ottawa did upset the odds when hammering Tampa Bay 4-0 at Canadian Tire Centre last time out.

Brady Tkachuk hit a maiden hat-trick, Josh Norris also scored and Filip Forsberg secured a first NHL shutout in his 66th game.

“We just played the right way,” beamed Tkachuk. “We were getting on the forecheck, doing the details really well. We’re going to build off of that.”

The Lightning were on a five-match winning streak but had been on the road for the previous four games, though, so maybe all that travelling just caught up with them.

This should be a quick reality check for the Senators, although they have now scored at least twice in seven straight outings.

Let’s finish off our NHL predictions by taking 12.0 for a 5-2 home win.
