Ottawa Senators vs Arizona Coyotes predictions

Face-off: 1930 ET, 14/03/2022

Arena: Canadian Tire Centre

Ottawa and Arizona took part in a wild contest at Gila River Arena earlier this month and we’re expecting more excitement at Canadian Tire Centre.

The Senators fought back from 4-0 down to lead 5-4, only for the Coyotes to rally again in a crazy third period and prevail 8-5.

In this reverse fixture, we’re taking 3.0 for both teams to score at least three goals again in our Ottawa Senators vs Arizona Coyotes predictions.

Ottawa Senators Odds

Ottawa recovered from a five-match losing run to beat St Louis and Seattle last week, scoring four goals in each of those victories.

The Senators then went down 6-3 at home to Chicago on Saturday but played their part in a good game, leading 2-0 after the first period only to trail 4-3 after 40 minutes.

“That second period was probably our worst period in a month,” said DJ Smith. “In a way, they just grinded us and we had no answer for Patrick Kane.”

Unfortunately, that match epitomised Ottawa’s problems all season, as they so often look fine going forward but are just too fragile at the back.

Looking at the NHL odds here, we reckon 4.0 for Arizona to win and over 5.5 goals is good value.

Arizona Coyotes Odds

Like Ottawa, Arizona are out of playoffs contention but they have found some form over the past few weeks and started out this month with four straight wins, including that defeat of Ottawa.

Nick Schmaltz scored two goals and registered five assists against the Senators and has been on song in other games of late.

The hot streak ended with Saturday’s 3-2 loss at Boston but nobody could fault the Coyotes for a lack of effort again.

Clayton Keller and Nick Ritchie netted as they battled back from 2-0 down, only for the Bruins to snatch victory late on in the third period.

“We obviously stuck with it pretty well,” said Ritchie. “First period, we weren’t as good as we wanted, but we got right back in the game.

“The last couple of seconds we had two good looks and we could have been in overtime. But I like the way we’re playing.”

Boston have won nine of 11, so there was no disgrace in that hard-fought defeat and 14.5 for Arizona to win 4-3 here is added to our NHL predictions.
