MLS predictions: Five selections for this weekend

We’re continuing our MLS predictions with five selections from this weekend’s fixtures and will land a 96.88 parlay if they all prevail.

Punters can check out separate previews for Montreal vs New England, Inter Miami vs Toronto and Real Salt Lake vs Vancouver but these are our best bets from the other games.

New York Red Bulls to beat Cincinnati @ 1.68

Gerhard Struber’s side ended a run of three games without a win when prevailing 2-1 at Atlanta in midweek, where Lewis Morgan and John Tolkin did the damage early on. The Red Bulls are now fourth in the Eastern Conference, five places and seven points ahead of their next opponents. Cincinnati have only lost one of their last 11 MLS matches but eight draws during that period have hampered their progress.

Philadelphia to win at DC United @ 2.2

Top visits bottom in the Eastern Conference and we’re hoping the Union can confirm the gulf in class between these teams in our MLS predictions. Admittedly, Philadelphia have lost their last two away games at Cincinnati and Dallas but this is seen as a far friendlier place to visit and Jim Curtin’s side had previously prevailed at Inter Miami and Orlando. DC United have only picked up one point from four games and were crushed 7-0 in Philadelphia just over a month ago.

Colorado to beat Houston @ 1.7

The Rapids are on a four-match unbeaten run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, beating LA Galaxy and Minnesota during that sequence as well as drawing with Orlando and in-form Columbus. With all of those opponents currently occupying play-off berths, Colorado will be confident of edging out Houston, who are six points below them in the Western Conference after losing nine of their 12 away games this year.

Columbus to beat Atlanta @ 1.83

The Crew have only lost one of their last 12 matches after following up a 3-2 home victory over New York City with a 1-1 draw at Colorado. Cucho Hernandez and Lucas Zelarayan have struck up an exciting partnership, netting all of the last 10 goals Columbus have scored between them, and a place in the play-offs is very much up for grabs. Atlanta have gone 10 away games without a win, tasting defeat in six of those fixtures.

Nashville and Dallas to draw @ 3.5

Dallas will head to GEODIS Park in fine spirits after back-to-back home wins over San Jose and Philadelphia left them well placed in third in the Western Conference. That made it just one defeat in seven outings for a team which has featured in a division-high six away draws. Nashville will be determined to make up for narrow home losses to Toronto and Minnesota, though, and had shared the spoils in three previous fixtures, so we like a stalemate here.
