West Ham vs Chelsea prediction, odds & betting tips

Kick-off: 1230, 11/02/2023

Stadium: London Stadium

TV: BT Sport

West Ham have put together a decent little run of results and are fancied to hold big-spending Chelsea to a draw on home turf.

The Blues have brought in some exciting young players but it may just take them a bit more time before adapting to the Premier League.

United have only lost one of the last five renewals of this fixture at London Stadium and 23/10 for a stalemate here is our first West Ham vs Chelsea prediction.

West Ham United Odds

West Ham are still just a point above the relegation zone but have definitely been showing more encouraging signs in recent weeks.

Since the turn of the year, their only defeat in six outings was a narrow 1-0 loss at Wolves.

In the league, the Hammers have beaten Everton 2-0 at this venue and drawn away to Leeds and high-flying Newcastle.

There have also been FA Cup victories at Brentford and Derby, with United really tightening up at the back.

England midfielder Declan Rice was outstanding in a 1-1 stalemate with the Magpies.

David Moyes said: “I thought he was a top player in the first half, he really was, he showed so many things.

“Undoubtedly, Declan is going to be a top player. Undoubtedly, he’ll be a British transfer record if he ever leaves West Ham.”

Callum Wilson put Newcastle ahead but the Hammers levelled through Lucas Paqueta and then defended impressively to claim a deserved point.

Looking at the West Ham vs Chelsea odds, another 1-1 draw here is available at 11/2.

Last West Ham line-up: Fabianski, Ogbonna, Kehrer, Aguerd, Coufal, Paqueta, Emerson, Rice, Antonio, Bowen, Benrahma.

West Ham are without defenders Thilo Kehrer and Kurt Zouma, as well as forwards Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet. But new striker Danny Ings can start after a knee knock.

Chelsea Odds

Following another huge spending spree in the January transfer window, Chelsea will be far from satisfied with ninth place in the table.

They recently beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Stamford Bridge and then secured a solid 0-0 draw at Liverpool.

However, being held to a goalless stalemate by Fulham on home turf highlighted how they lack a cutting edge.

Their £106.5million record-signing Enzo Fernandez was heavily involved but was unable to provide the spark his new side needed to unlock the Cottagers.

“I agree that we didn’t do enough in terms of our attacking play to create more, which is something we need to do,” admitted Graham Potter.

“That bit of connection, that fluidity and understanding, we probably lacked a little bit, which is understandable when we’ve got players coming back from injury and new players in the team.

“That’s just where we’re at at the moment. Some positives from us, I thought the effort was there, the spirit was there. But as an attacking team, we’d like to do more.”

The Blues have scored more than one goal just once in their last 12 Premier League matches.

Punters can get 7/2 for this game to be tied at half-time and full-time and that completes our West Ham vs Chelsea betting tips.

Last Chelsea line-up: Kepa, Mukinayi, Silva, James, Cucurella, Fernandez, Mount, Gallagher, Mudryk, Ziyech, Havertz.

Defender Wesley Fofana and midfielder Denis Zakaria have returned to first-team training with Chelsea, though neither will be fit to feature in the squad.

Forward Raheem Sterling has suffered a setback after receiving a knock in training and will also be absent, while midfielder Mateo Kovacic is training with the squad but is not yet fit to make a return.
