Chelsea received a bit of a reality check when beaten by Liverpool but should still be too strong for West Brom at The Hawthorns.
Albion have conceded eight goals in their first two Premier League matches since gaining promotion and currently look out of their depth at this level.
Punters can get 91/100 for an away win and over 2.5 goals in the game and that is our initial West Brom vs Chelsea prediction.
A Look At West Bromwich Albion’s Betting Odds
West Brom were beaten 3-0 by Leicester here on the opening weekend and went down 5-2 at Everton last Saturday.
There were some positives at Goodison Park, with summer signings Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira netting early on in each half.
However, the dismissal of Kieran Gibbs predictably proved costly as the second period progressed.
Slaven Bilic, who was sent off at half-time himself, said: “There are many positives that you would take from this, that you would cut and paste onto the next performance and ask for the same again.
“There was so much to admire about us in the first half, we were braver and showed more quality than previously, which is what I asked the guys to do. We were pressing and creating chances and causing them problems.
“But, of course, there were also negatives that we have to stop. I can’t be happy with conceding goals from set-pieces and there was some naivety that you can’t afford at this level.”
However, this is a team which let in 27 goals at home in the Championship last season and their opponents have the weapons to exploit any defensive frailties.
Last West Brom line-up: Johnstone, Furlong, Gibbs, Bartley, Ajayi, O’Shea, Livermore, Diangana, Sawyers, Robinson, Pereira.
West Brom will be without Conor Gallagher, who ineligible to face his parent club. Branislav Ivanovic continues to build up his fitness but is unlikely to face his former club, while full-back Gibbs is suspended.
A Look At Chelsea’s Betting Odds
Chelsea began the new campaign with a real buzz about them after spending big in the off-season and a 3-1 victory at Brighton added to the feelgood factor.
The Blues were then brought back down to earth when beaten 2-0 by defending champions Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, although there were excuses.
Andreas Christensen was sent off just before the break, Kepa Arrizabalaga gifted the second goal and Jorginho had a penalty saved.
Frank Lampard commented: “Nobody tries to make mistakes in football, that’s the nature of the game.
“We have to be strong and keep going. We have to keep working through difficult times; individually, players need support, particularly from myself.”
There were always going to be growing pains for Chelsea, but this remains an exciting side capable of achieving big things this term, especially as Kai Havertz and Timo Werner develop an understanding.
With home games against Crystal Palace and Southampton coming up after this trip, the Blues should soon be back amongst the early pacesetters.
Let’s add 21/2 for a 3-1 away victory to our West Brom vs Chelsea betting tips.
Last Chelsea EPL line-up: Kepa, Alonso, Christensen, Zouma, James, Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic, Mount, Havertz, Werner.
Christian Pulisic (hamstring) and Hakim Ziyech (knee) will miss out for Chelsea. New boy Edouard Mendy is not ready to start, leaving Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero to battle it out for the goalkeeping berth.
