Kick-off: 1945, 09/09/2019

Stadium: Cardiff City Stadium

Wales boss Ryan Giggs earned a welcome reprieve from recent criticism with Friday’s win over Azerbaijan and will be keen to build some momentum when hosting Belarus.

The visitors also ended a frustrating run of results by beating Estonia in a Euro 2020 qualifier and both teams should be in good spirits for this Cardiff friendly.

We’re hoping for an open encounter, so 14/5 for a home win and both teams to score is our initial Wales vs Belarus prediction.

A Look At Wales’ Betting Odds

Wales kept alive their hopes of a top-two finish in Group E by edging out Azerbaijan 2-1 at this venue, recovering from away defeats to Croatia and Hungary.

The Dragons held a fortuitous half-time lead through Pavlo Pashayev’s bizarre own goal but conceded an equaliser on 58 minutes when Neil Taylor and Wayne Hennessey were both culpable in a comedy of defensive errors.

However, talismanic forward Gareth Bale came to the rescue six minutes from time with a 32nd goal for his country and his first in 10 months.

“Obviously, Gareth has scored so many important goals for Wales over the years,” Giggs said.

“Usually when he scores, he keeps scoring, so I was glad to see him score for Real Madrid last week.

“Just like the rest of the lads, he showed great character, kept going to the end, I am really pleased for him.”

It is questionable whether Bale will be risked in a friendly, but Giggs does have other attacking options looking to make their mark.

Looking at the Wales vs Belarus odds, we like 31/4 for another 2-1 triumph.

A Look At Belarus’ Betting Odds

Belarus have struggled in Euro 2020 Group C, losing twice to Northern Ireland, as well as going down to Germany and Holland.

However, a stoppage-time strike from BATE Borisov forward Maksim Skavysh helped them to secure a 2-1 victory over Estonia in Tallinn on Friday.

Belarus had previously finished top of a Nations League D pool, netting 10 times in six matches, albeit against limited opposition, so they are no mugs.

Star midfielder Stanislaw Drahun scored in 2-0 away wins over Luxembourg and San Marino at the end of that campaign, again proving they do not suffer from travel sickness.

We think the visitors can be competitive for a while, so 16/5 for Draw HT/Wales FT is a value addition to our Wales vs Belarus betting tips.
