Last season’s semi-finalists Monaco must beat RB Leipzig to maintain their hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League again and are fancied to pick up maximum points here.

Their opponents are playing in Europe for the first time and have looked poor travellers when losing at Besiktas and Porto.

The hosts need to improve on what they have shown so far in this competition, but are doing well enough in Ligue 1 to appeal at 6/5 for our Monaco vs RB Leipzig betting predictions.

A Look At AS Monaco’s Betting Odds

Monaco were always going to struggle to reach the dizzy heights they scaled last term after selling several key players, but they did start out with a decent 1-1 draw against Leipzig in Germany.

Home defeats against Porto and Besiktas then hit them hard, but Leonardo Jardim’s side showed few signs of throwing in the towel when sharing the spoils with the group leaders in Istanbul.

In an end-to-end contest, Monaco led through a lovely Rony Lopes strike, were pegged back by a penalty and had to survive a few scares, but went close to snatching a late winner when having a header cleared off the line.

“I’ll believe we can qualify until it’s no longer possible,” commented Lopes. “We still believe and we’ll give it everything.”

Jardim has also expressed a desire to at least make the Europa League and we like 8/1 for a 2-1 home win from the Monaco vs RB Leipzig odds.

A Look At RB Leipzig’s Betting Odds

We had high hopes for Leipzig in this group at the start of the campaign, with star names Timo Werner, Naby Keita and Emil Forsberg all worthy of gracing the latter stages.

However, despite a 3-2 home win over Porto, they just haven’t quite kicked on from last season’s impressive Bundesliga effort, when following up promotion by finishing second to Bayern Munich.

Werner did score when Leipzig travelled to Portugal on Matchday 4, while Forsberg went close with a smart free-kick, but defensive frailties led to a 3-1 reversal.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have also lost three times on the road in the Bundesliga this season and it will be hard to paper over the cracks in their rearguard.

Going forward, they are still strong, but we reckon 5/2 for a home win and both teams to score is the way to go with our Monaco vs RB Leipzig betting tips.
