Fulham vs QPR: Goals to flow in London derby

Kick-off: 1230, 16/10/2021

Stadium: Craven Cottage

TV: Sky Sports

Fulham and QPR both look early contenders for promotion from the Championship this season and Saturday’s west London derby could be a cracker.

The two teams are separated by just one place and two points ahead of their lunchtime showdown at Craven Cottage and are the top scorers in the division.

That will hopefully ensure an entertaining game and over 3.5 goals at 29/20 is our opening Fulham vs QPR prediction.

A Look At Fulham’s Betting Odds

Fulham looked capable of running away with the division on their return to the second tier after taking 13 points from their first five matches.

It has been a different story since then though and three defeats in six games has seen them slip to fifth in the table, although they are still joint favourites in the Championship winner odds.

The Cottagers are the highest scorers in the Championship with 23 goals but have now gone six matches without a clean sheet and lost 4-1 at Coventry last time out.

Their recent form makes them hard to back at just 58/100 for the win and they look worth opposing against a potential promotion rival.

Looking at the Fulham vs QPR odds, we like the option of 12/5 for a draw or QPR win and both teams to score.

A Look At QPR’s Betting Odds

QPR’s six-match unbeaten run came to an abrupt halt in September when they suffered three successive defeats.

All three of those were 2-1 losses though and the standard of opposition – Bournemouth, Bristol City and West Brom – meant a dip in form was perhaps to be expected.

They responded with back-to-back home wins against Birmingham (2-0) and Preston (3-2) so should be full of confidence, especially from an attacking sense having scored in all 14 of their matches in all competitions this season.

Boss Mark Warburton knows they must improve at the back though if they are to continue with their promotion challenge.

After the Preston game, he said: “The negatives are two awful goals given away. It was an individual error for the first and then straight after half-time not tracking a runner – poor basic defending.

“You can’t give two goals away. That’s an honest fact. You can’t keep scoring three goals.

“We know we’re going to be on the front foot and create chances, but we have to be better defensively.

“We’re a dangerous team going forward but we need to be solid and compact behind the ball. When we do that we look very good.”

That backs up our view that this should be an entertaining watch and both teams to score in both halves at 10/1 completes our Fulham vs QPR betting tips.
