Macedonia vs Spain: Red Lions can net consolation goal

Kick Off: 1945, 11/06/2017

Stadium: Philip II Arena

Spain have won all six past meetings with Macedonia and are expected to make short work of their hosts again in Sunday’s World Cup qualifier in Skopje.

La Roja sit alongside Italy at the top of the Group G table on 13 points, with the Red Lions languishing 10 points behind.

However, the home team have scored in four of their five games in this pool, so 5/2 for an away win and both teams to net is worth including in our Macedonia vs Spain betting tips.

A Look At Macedonia’s Betting Odds

For years, Macedonia relied on captain Goran Pandev for goals but he now has some decent support in the shape of Ilija Nestorovski.

The 27-year-old bagged 11 Serie A goals for Palermo last season, despite his side being relegated, and has netted four times in this competition.

Nestorovski hit a double as Macedonia won 3-0 away to Liechtenstein in March and was also on target as they led Italy 2-1 in Skopje before eventually suffering a heart-breaking loss in stoppage time.

Looking at the Macedonia vs Spain odds, Nestorovski is a tempting 3/1 to add to his tally at anytime in this contest.

A Look At Spain’s Betting Odds

We were spot on with our Spain vs Colombia preview earlier this week when going for a score draw in that warm-up match and are again hoping La Roja’s defence will be breached here.

Although only conceding twice in five qualifiers, they did let in a consolation goal in March’s 4-1 home victory over Israel and do not look quite as tight under Julien Lopetegui.

However, Spain will still enjoy plenty of possession and are always a threat going forward, so let’s take 7/5 for David Silva to hit the target.

The Manchester City midfielder opened the scoring on Wednesday night and already has three Group G goals to his credit.
