Scotland can build on a positive performance against England to keep their World Cup hopes alive by beating Lithuania in Vilnius on Friday night.

The visitors only drew with this week’s opponents at Hampden Park last October but have a good overall record against them, winning four times in an unbeaten six-game run stretching back to 2003.

Another triumph here would put Gordon Strachan’s side right back into contention in Group F and they get the nod at 17/20 in our Lithuania vs Scotland betting predictions.

A Look At Lithuania’s Betting Odds

Lithuania outworked Scotland in the first half of their Glasgow encounter and took a deserved lead when Fedor Cernych finished off a slick move in the 58th minute.

“The game was very physical, at some points it looked like a battlefield, because elbows were flying,” said manager Edgaras Jankauskas. “No-one was giving easy balls away, they were fighting for every yard of the pitch.”

However, Scotland’s superior fitness and technique helped them to take control in the latter stages and James McArthur’s 89th-minute equaliser earned a share of the spoils.

Lithuania will again battle hard but they have since lost some momentum by suffering three straight defeats.

We’re on the Tartan Army to enjoy a one-goal victory at 12/5 in our Lithuania vs Scotland betting tips.

A Look At Scotland’s Betting Odds

Strachan felt Scotland created enough chances to win the first game against Lithuania and has admitted his team must go all out to pick up maximum points from this match and Monday’s clash with Malta if they are to reach Russia 2018.

He is taking nothing for granted, stating: “Lithuania have a club mentality. They’re like a good, steady handicap golfer – hard to beat.”

However, Strachan added: “But we’ve got to try and win both games – I don’t think we ever set out to draw a game. We don’t have the physical capabilities to sit back and take long periods of being under pressure.”

Beating Slovenia and then drawing 2-2 with England has really lifted spirits within the Scotland camp and that sense of belief can help them to prevail here.

Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson declared: “All the players, coaching staff, backroom staff and, after the last couple of performances, the fans have got their belief.

“The fans were magnificent against England and by all accounts they are heading over here and if they can get behind the boys that can give us an extra lift and one that can hopefully can see us to victory.

“It is not too late. We have four games left, we are looking to get maximum points and if we do that we will see where we stand.”

Looking at the Lithuania vs Scotland odds, we like 9/2 for a 1-0 away win.
