Kick-off: 1945, 31/08/2019

Stadium: Juventus Stadium

Juventus can make an early statement of intent in their quest for a ninth straight Serie A title triumph by edging out main rivals Napoli in Turin.

The visitors have been runners-up three times in the past four seasons but have lost five of their last seven head-to-head meetings in Italy’s top flight.

We’re sticking with the Old Lady to oblige again at 19/20 as our opening Juventus vs Napoli prediction.

A Look At Juventus’ Betting Odds

Juve prevailed 3-1 on home turf and then 2-1 in Naples when doing the double over Carlo Ancelotti’s team in a couple of feisty encounters last term.

Both sides had a man sent off in March’s second clash after Mario Rui had seen red for Napoli at this venue towards the end of September.

Looking at the Juventus vs Napoli odds, there is obviously some appeal in 11/5 for there to be another dismissal this weekend.

Juventus needed a 21st-minute Giorgio Chiellini strike from close range to open up with a 1-0 victory at Parma, where £67.5million summer signing Matthijs de Ligt was an unused substitute.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo did also have the ball in the back of the net, before being judged to have been narrowly offside by VAR.

The Old Lady had 61 per cent of possession that day and are again fancied to control proceedings here, so 11/4 for Ronaldo to open the scoring will be a popular option.

A Look At Napoli’s Betting Odds

Napoli also kicked off their campaign with a victory at Fiorentina, but in far different circumstances, shading a seven-goal thriller 4-3.

Lorenzo Insigne bagged a brace and was backed up by goals from Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon, so we know that the Blues’ dangerous front men are already up to speed.

However, recruiting Greece defender Kostas Manolas from Roma for £32m to play alongside the highly-rated Kalidou Koulibaly may take longer to pay dividends.

Master tactician Ancelotti will no doubt iron out any issues at the back in time, but we just fear such a tough test has come too soon for him to adjust.

Napoli will hope that Juve are unsettled by being without new manager Maurizio Sarri for the second straight week, as their former boss recovers from pneumonia.

We’re backing the hosts to cope with that hindrance, though, and like 15/1 for a 3-1 scoreline to finish off our Juventus vs Napoli betting tips.
