The Milanese giants of Italian football endured a nightmare start to the Serie A season but whereas Inter are still languishing in the bottom half, bitter rivals AC Milan have put their early season woes well and truly behind them.
Since losing their first two away matches of the season and taking just five points from their opening five fixtures, the Rossoneri have recovered brilliantly, winning seven out of their last eight games to trail leaders Juventus by only two points going into a busy period of Serie A action.
And with Milan in such good form they have nothing to fear from a visit to Stadio Renato Dall’Ara to face Bologna, who currently lie in 17th position in Serie A and are looking nervously over their shoulders at the relegation zone.
Milan are obviously strong favourites to take three points back home with odds of 43/100 being offered by bwin. The draw is 3/1, while Bologna are rank outsiders at 29/4 to cause an upset.
Even at 29/4 for a home team, you just can’t make a case for Bologna to win this match as their current plight couldn’t be further away from Milan’s rich vein of form. Decent enough on the road, the Rossoblu have nevertheless been poor at home, winning two and losing four of their six matches in their own ground.
Those wins have come against Siena and Atalanta, teams who are 16th and 14th respectively, but they have been comfortably beaten by other teams around them, including Lecce and Cesena, who are currently the bottom two sides.
Milan have to be strongly fancied, even at those odds, but there are ways to make a Milan win more profitable. Despite those two early defeats away from the San Siro, Milan have the third best away record in the division and should have no problems winning at a ground where they are on a terrific run.
Milan have beaten Bologna in five of their last six trips, and all of those victories were by a margin of at least two goals.
Meanwhile, Milan have scored 23 goals in their eight match unbeaten run, and this points to a Milan win by more than a goal.
That is a 13/10 shot and well worth getting on. The 7/2 that the winning margin is three or more is also worth a small play.
