After scraping a 2-1 win against struggling Inverness, Rangers will be looking for a more convincing performance on Christmas Eve against a St Mirren side who have struggled at home this season.

The champions are the 9/20 favourites in bwin’s 3Way football betting market to take all three points away from St Mirren Park.

In the first meeting between these sides earlier this term, however, a stoppage-time Steven Thompson goal earned a 1-1 draw for the Saints.

A repeat of that scoreline is given odds of 27/4, while a draw of any kind is at 16/5.

Rangers haven’t lost to St Mirren since October 2008, when Saints earned a 1-0 win, and the home side are priced at 11/2 to cause a shock in this one.

If they are to win, then a punt on another 1-0 success at 14/1 looks the most likely result, as the Gers were beaten by that scoreline at Kilmarnock when they let their 100% away record slip last month.

A closer look at the statistics shows that St Mirren have conceded the first goal in their last four matches, but in the past two weeks they have come back to take draws against Aberdeen and Motherwell.

Therefore, a good bet could be on the run of play to be a lead then a draw, at odds of 9/2, or on Rangers to lead at half-time then to draw at full-time, at 16/1.

The fact that Rangers lost a lead to St Mirren in that draw two months ago should make this bet even more appealing.

But withthe Saints scoring just three home goals in their last four games in front of their own fans, this could end up being another straightforward Rangers win.

The league leaders have conceded just twice away from home and should earn a second away clean sheet in a row in Paisley at odds of 91/100.

Punters who use their free £25 bet for joining bwin.com on a Rangers clean sheet could win back £47.75 if St Mirren’s home striking problems do indeed continue.

Alternatively, a victory without conceding for Ally McCoist’s men looks to offer decent value at 6/5.
