Friday, 30th September
Aberdeen v Dunfermline (7.45pm)
Home win: 91/100, Draw: 9/5, Away win: 3/1
Key stat: Aberdeen have only scored in two of their nine league games this season.
Betting tip: While Craig Brown’s men are struggling to put the ball in the net, Dunfermline have scored in all of their away games since promotion. Therefore, a bet on Dunfermline to get a win to nil on Friday night, at odds of 5/1, could prove great value.
Saturday, 1st October
Dundee United v Motherwell (3.00pm)
Home win: 23/20, Draw: 23/10, Away win: 11/5
Key stat: These two faced each other seven times last season in all competitions, with the away team failing to win a single one.
Betting tip: Those seven games produced six home wins and one draw, making a Double Chance bet on a home win or a draw this time around an attractive punt, at odds of 33/100. Given that there was only the one draw from those seven matches, perhaps a Double Chance bet on there to simply be a winner is a safe option, at odds of 9/50.
Kilmarnock v St Johnstone (3.00pm)
Home win: Evens, Draw: 11/5, Away win: 11/4
Key stat: Kilmarnock have faced the side from Perth twice in 2011, with both games ending in draws.
Betting tip: Both these sides are coming into this game on the back of midweek league losses and will both be keen to avoid another defeat. Therefore another share of the spoils between these two is very possible. A repeat of their 0-0 scoreline from April is priced at 25/4, while there are odds of 5/1 for another 1-1 draw between these teams, just like we had in January.
Rangers v Hibernian (3.00pm)
Home win: 1/5, Draw: 19/4, Away win: 25/2
Key stat: Rangers are without SPL top scorer Steven Naismith for this one, while Hibernian have scored just four away league goals all season.
Betting tip: Don’t expect a flurry of goals in this match. A punt on less than 1.5 goals, at 15/4, may prove to be a great choice with the high prospect of a little 1-0 victory.
Inverness CT v St Mirren (3.00pm)
Home win: 13/10, Draw: 21/10, Away win: 21/10
Key stat: Inverness have not kept a clean sheet yet in ten games this season.
Betting tip: A game against low-scoring St Mirren is as good a chance as Inverness are going to get to earn their first clean sheet. Odds of 33/20 are available for them to do just that. On the other hand, St Mirren will view this fixture as the best chance to add to their meagre goal tally and are expected, with odds of 21/50, to get on the scoresheet.
Sunday, 2nd October
Hearts v Celtic (12.45pm)
Home win: 4/1, Draw: 13/5, Away win: 67/100
Key stat: Not since the 2001/02 season have Celtic had a 100% record against Hearts over the whole league campaign.
Betting tip: History tells us that Hearts are likely to damage Celtic’s title challenge at some point this season. It may be early, but it could well happen this weekend. And when Hearts do earn a victory over Celtic, it tends to be a comfortable one. Last year, for example, they won 2-0. Therefore, a bet on Hearts to be leading at halftime and to hold onto or even extend that lead by fulltime is worth a look, especially at odds of 15/2.
