Celtic could seal their title-in-waiting on April Fool’s Day. No joke! Before that, though, there are four important games on Saturday as we approach the SPL split.
Saturday, March 31st
Motherwell v Rangers (12.00pm)
Home win: 19/10 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 27/20
Key stat: Both meetings between these two this season have ended 3-0 to Rangers.
Betting tip: A bet on another Gers win by three goals to nil is priced at 22/1 and with Ally McCoist’s side coming off an Old Firm win, this should be entirely possible.
Dundee United v Dunfermline (3.00pm)
Home win: 21/50 Draw: 16/5 Away win: 25/4
Key stat: Dundee United have won four out of their last six matches to nil.
Betting tip: Given United’s recent haul of wins and their ability to pick up clean sheet after clean sheet, a home win to nil against the league’s bottom side, priced at 5/4, wouldn’t shock anyone.
Hearts v Aberdeen (3.00pm)
Home win: Evens Draw: 11/5 Away win: 11/4
Key stat: Aberdeen haven’t scored against Hearts in six games.
Betting tip: A bet on the Dons to leave the capital goalless once again is given odds of 7/5 and is obviously worth a look given the recent results between the two.
St Mirren v Kilmarnock (3.00pm)
Home win: 29/20 Draw: 21/10 Away win: 37/20
Key stat: These two sides have drawn more times than any other SPL teams, with the Saints racking up 14 drawn matches and Kilmarnock 13.
Betting tip: A bet on these teams to each take home one SPL point looks inevitable. The odds on a share of the soils are 21/10.
Sunday, April 1st
Celtic v St Johnstone (12.45pm)
Home win: 7/25 Draw: 15/4 Away win: 21/2
Key stat: St Johnstone are the only visiting team to take maximum SPL points at Celtic Park this season, winning 1-0 back in August.
Betting tip: With the possibility of Celtic winning the title on Sunday if they can better Rangers’ result at Fir Park 24 hours earlier, one has to wonder if the Hoops will fail to take another opportunity to seal the title after last week’s loss at Ibrox. A double chance bet on a Saints win or a draw to spoil Celtic’s party is priced at 21/10.
Inverness v Hibernian (3.00pm)
Home win: 11/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 12/5
Key stat: These two haven’t played a match with over 2.5 goals in their last four encounters.
Betting tip: Both these teams have struggled to score this season and are near the bottom of the table for that exact reason. A bet on under 2.5 goals in this one, at 3/4, should interest most punters.
