We have finally arrived at the first round of post-split SPL fixtures and Dundee United host Motherwell on Friday before Kilmarnock play Hearts and St Mirren welcome Dundee on Saturday. Celtic can then win the league on the Sunday when they take on Inverness before Ross County’s trip to St Johnstone. Hibernian and Aberdeen then finish off the weekend on Monday night.
You’ll find all six SPL games covered below and new customers can register here for up to £20 in free bets with their first deposit.
Friday, April 19th
Dundee United v Motherwell (7.30pm)
Home win: 16/11 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 8/5
Key stat: From their last six games, Motherwell have taken 14 points.
Betting tip: Although Celtic could win the league by picking up just one point in their game on Sunday, Motherwell will want to win on Saturday to avoid gifting the league to the Bhoys one day earlier. With such good recent form – only dropping four points from their last 18 available – back an away win at 8/5.
Saturday, April 20th
Kilmarnock v Hearts (3.00pm)
Home win: 28/17 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 7/5
Key stat: Kilmarnock have outscored Hearts by 7-1 in their three games this season.
Betting tip: Kilmarnock have been in total control in their games against Hearts this season, so backing a double chance bet on a home win or a draw seems a fairly safe option and could bring in a decent reward at odds of 8/15.
St Mirren v Dundee (3.00pm)
Home win: 13/18 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 7/2
Key stat: St Mirren have scored first in each of their three games against Dundee this SPL campaign.
Betting tip: The Saints know that they can secure their SPL survival on Saturday and should be fired up for this match. It would be no surprise, therefore, if the home side start brightly and score the first goal, which you can back at odds of 4/7.
Sunday, April 21st
Celtic v Inverness (12.45pm)
Home win: 6/17 Draw: 7/2 Away win: 25/4
Key stat: Four of the last five Celtic v Inverness fixtures have been won to nil.
Betting tip: The majority of those wins to nil were for Celtic, although the most recent one was a win for Inverness. The Hoops should be looking for revenge this time, however, and have the opportunity to win the league on Sunday. That makes the case for a big Celtic performance in front of a packed Parkhead crowd and so 7/5 for a home win to nil is well worth considering.
St Johnstone v Ross County (4.05pm)
Home win: 13/10 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 2/1
Key stat: Ross County have lost three games in a row.
Betting tip: As well as County’s poor recent form, St Johnstone have won two of their last three home games. The last three Saints wins against County have been by a 2-1 scoreline so backing a 2-1 win for the Saints, at 8/1 odds, would make a lot of sense.
Monday, April 22nd
Hibernian v Aberdeen (7.30pm)
Home win: 8/5 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 16/11
Key stat: Only two goals have been scored in the last three fixtures between these two.
Betting tip: There are 2/1 odds for there to be less then 1.5 goals in this match and there has been little to suggest otherwise in their most recent meetings. This could be a fairly boring affair so you might as well try to make some money from it!
