After Scottish Cup weekend, it’s back to the league action as we reach the home straight of the campaign. Aberdeen take on Motherwell on Saturday, the same day as Dundee host Inverness, Ross County play Celtic, Kilmarnock visit St Johnstone and St Mirren welcome Dundee United. An Edinburgh derby between Hibernian and Hearts on Sunday then rounds off the weekend’s fixtures.

Saturday, March 9th
Aberdeen v Motherwell (3.00pm)
Home win: 17/11 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 6/4
Key stat: The last four games at Pittodrie have produced just two goals.
Betting tip: Neither of these teams have been scoring many goals recently. Could there be another borefest in store for the fans at the game? Well, if you think so, then the odds on less than 1.5 goals are 11/5 and could well be worth putting your money behind.
Dundee v Inverness (3.00pm)
Home win: 5/2 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 10/11
Key stat: Inverness have won both meetings with Dundee this season by a 4-1 scoreline.
Betting tip: It would be rather strange if Inverness were to beat Dundee 4-1 for a third time in one season, but you’ll want to make the most of the 30/1 odds if they do. And with the bottom side likely to lose to third-placed Inverness, this bet is not the most far-fetched out there.
Ross County v Celtic (3.00pm)
Home win: 25/4 Draw: 7/2 Away win: 6/17
Key stat: County are unbeaten in 2013 and have not tasted defeat for ten games.
Betting tip: With Ross County on a superb run of form and with Celtic coming off a tough week of two cup ties, a Celtic win is not a certainty. That makes a double chance bet on a home win or draw a very appealing option and it’s priced at 19/10.
St Johnstone v Kilmarnock (3.00pm)
Home win: Evens Draw: 9/4 Away win: 12/5
Key stat: St Johnstone have beaten Killie 2-1 twice already this season.
Betting tip: At 31/4 for another 2-1 Saints win, it could well pay off to back a repeat scoreline here. Another interesting angle is that St Johnstone were leading at both the break and at the final whistle in those two previous games. That makes another St Johnstone/St Johnstone outcome in the half-time/full-time market worth considering at 11/5.
St Mirren v Dundee United (3.00pm)
Home win: 6/4 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 8/5
Key stat: United have lost just once in eight games and that was against Celtic.
Betting tip: United are on a good run and have already left St Mirren Park victorious once this season. They’ll be looking to do the same on Saturday and should not find that too difficult against a Saints side with four losses from five games, including against United’s bottom-of-the-table neighbours Dundee on Wednesday. The 8/5 odds on an away win seem, therefore, like the smart place to put your money.
Sunday, March 10th
Hibernian v Hearts (12.45pm)
Home win: 7/5 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 28/17
Key stat: Hibs have scored in seven straight games.
Betting tip: With Hearts struggling at the wrong end of the table, Hibs are the clear favourites in this derby. Of course, form tends to go out of the window in these big games, but Hibs should at least keep up their impressive scoring run, making a bet at odds of 7/25 for the home team to score seem a safe one.
