Here goes another crazy week in the SPL! Celtic will look to extend their lead against bottom side Dundee on Sunday, but before that we’ll see some Saturday action with Hearts v Inverness, Aberdeen’s trip to Kilmarnock, Ross County welcoming Motherwell and St Johnstone facing St Mirren, while joining the top and bottom sides on the Sunday schedule are Dundee United and Hibernian.
You’ll find all six SPL games covered below and new customers can register here for up to £20 in free bets with their first deposit.
Saturday, February 23rd
Hearts v Inverness (3.00pm)
Home win: 13/10 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 9/5
Key stat: Inverness are on a six-game winless streak.
Betting tip: The winless streak that Inverness are suffering started with a cup semi-final loss to none other than Hearts themselves. If the home side do send the visitors back north on a seven-game winless run then you’ll want to make the most of the double chance odds of 2/5 for a home win or draw.
Kilmarnock v Aberdeen (3.00pm)
Home win: 17/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 7/5
Key stat: Kilmarnock have won three out of their last four games.
Betting tip: Kilmarnock have enjoyed a good February, while Aberdeen have only two wins from eight games, but both of them were against bottom side Dundee. That makes the 17/10 odds for a home win seem a little generous and certainly worth considering.
Ross County v Motherwell (3.00pm)
Home win: 9/5 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 13/10
Key stat: This is only Motherwell’s second visit to Victoria Park – they drew 0-0 last time.
Betting tip: The fans at Ross County have seen three 0-0 draws already this season. Could they be in for yet another against one of those goalless draw opponents? The odds are 33/4 if you think yes.
St Johnstone v St Mirren (3.00pm)
Home win: 20/19 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 11/5
Key stat: These sides have played three times this season, with seven goals from those match-ups.
Betting tip: Seven goals over three games shows that there is never really a goalfest when these two meet. It has been 12 meetings since the sides played a game of over four goals and don’t expect one on Saturday. Back under 3.5 goals in this one at odds of 3/10.
Sunday, February 24th
Celtic v Dundee (12.30pm)
Home win: 2/17 Draw: 25/4 Away win: 17/2
Key stat: Not since 2004 have Dundee avoided defeat against Celtic.
Betting tip: Not only has it been a long time since Dundee’s last result against Celtic, but they have already been beaten 2-0 twice by the Bhoys this season. Backing a home clean sheet on Sunday looks a smart bet and is priced at 7/10.
Dundee United v Hibernian (4.30pm)
Home win: 9/10 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 13/5
Key stat: Hibernian have lost on their last four visits to Tannadice, scoring only once.
Betting tip: With a good home record against Hibs, expect United to continue their impressive run. They have won three of four since Jackie McNamara took over (the one loss coming against Celtic) and he has even earned two wins to nil already. Backing another home win to nil makes sense based on recent history and is priced at 5/2.
