For the first time in three weeks we have a full six-game SPL schedule, starting with Dundee v Ross County on Friday night. Friday, February 8th
Dundee v Ross County (7.45pm)
Home win: 8/5 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 16/11
Key stat: Ross County are unbeaten in five games.
Betting tip: Not only are they in fine form, but Ross County have an impressive record against Dundee, having not lost to their Friday night opponents in six meetings. When you consider as well that the home side have not won an evening kick-off all season, a Double Chance bet on a draw or away win at 4/9 odds makes plenty of sense.
Saturday, February 9th
Inverness v Celtic (12.00 noon)
Home win: 9/2 Draw: 11/4 Away win: 8/15
Key stat: Celtic have scored first in their last three visits to Inverness and have gone on to win all those games.
Betting tip: Backing an away lead at both half-time and full-time could be a smart move with this game. With Inverness second in the league table, there are good odds available for this bet on bwin.com, with 5/4 the going price.
Aberdeen v St Mirren (3.00pm)
Home win: 10/11 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 5/2
Key stat: St Mirren have scored first in their last three games, winning all three of them.
Betting tip: January loan signing Esmael Goncalves has been working wonders for St Mirren with four goals in his first three games, having opened the scoring in each of his starts. Back an in-form Saints, therefore, to grab the game’s first goal against a Dons side that haven’t won in their last five matches. The odds on the away side scoring first are 29/20.
Dundee United v Hearts (3.00pm)
Home win: 6/5 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 37/19
Key stat: Hearts have netted the first goal in their three previous meetings with United this season.
Betting tip: This will be the fourth time these two face each other this season and Hearts have had the better fortunes so far. Back them to score first again at 15/13. If Hearts do take the lead, however, they may not win the game. New manager Jackie McNamara has a 100% record after a cup win last week and his side could recover from going behind early. A cheeky punt on Hearts to lead at half-time but lose the game could leave you and United celebrating at 28/1.
Kilmarnock v Motherwell (3.00pm)
Home win: 19/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 5/4
Key stat: The only time Motherwell failed to score in their last ten games was when they played Celtic.
Betting tip: Failing to score at Celtic Park is nothing to be too embarrassed about. Apart from that result, Motherwell have been firing the goals in. Put your money on them to score at least one on Saturday at 1/5 odds.
Monday, February 11th
Hibernian v St Johnstone (7.30pm)
Home win: 7/5 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 28/17
Key stat: Hibs fans have only seen a total of eight goals in their last eight matches – with their team only scoring half of them.
Betting tip: We could be set for another low-scoring affair at Easter Road on Monday night, making an under 2.5 goals bet a wise move at 3/4.
