The SPL is back after a winter break and, weather permitting, St Mirren and Ross County kick off the weekend in the Saturday lunchtime game. Also in action tomorrow are Celtic and Hearts, and Hibernian and Dundee, as well as a Highland derby between Inverness and Aberdeen. Kilmarnock host Dundee United too, before Motherwell and St Johnstone battle it out on Sunday.

Saturday, January 19th
St Mirren v Ross County (12.45pm)
Home win: 21/20 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 23/10
Key stat: Ross County haven’t won twice in a row since last May.
Betting tip: The 1-0 win over Hibs before the three-week break means only one thing for Ross County – that they will have to win twice in a row if they are to take three points on Saturday, which is a feat they haven’t achieved this season. That points to a Double Chance home win or draw bet as being a sensible option for this game at 1/3.
Celtic v Hearts (3.00pm)
Home win: 13/50 Draw: 4/1 Away win: 17/2
Key stat: Hearts have not even scored at Celtic Park in six visits.
Betting tip: Six defeats in a row in Glasgow’s East End will not fill the visitors with confidence before this match. A bet on another home win to nil makes a lot of sense given the results in this fixture over recent years and the 19/20 odds are certainly tempting enough.
Hibernian v Dundee (3.00pm)
Home win: 53/100 Draw: 14/5 Away win: 9/2
Key stat: Dundee have conceded first in six of their last seven SPL games.
Betting tip: Dundee haven’t won in seven league matches and having conceded first in all but one of those games, that’s no surprise. At 9/20, Hibs are the favourites to score first in this one and that’s a bet worth backing.
Inverness v Aberdeen (3.00pm)
Home win: 27/20 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 17/10
Key stat: In the last five meetings between these two, only three of the 11 goals scored came in the first half.
Betting tip: Backing the second half to have the most goals, at 6/5, could be a wise move for this Highland derby given the recent trend in this match-up.
Kilmarnock v Dundee United (3.00pm)
Home win: 33/20 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 29/20
Key stat: Kilmarnock have scored in 17 matches in a row.
Betting tip: Although their final results haven’t always been great, Killie have at least been putting the ball in the net consistently these past few months. Having a sizeable punt on the safe-looking home team to score bet should, therefore, provide a straightforward win at 13/50.
Sunday, January 20th
Motherwell v St Johnstone (2.15pm)
Home win: 19/20 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 5/2
Key stat: Thirteen goals have been netted in the last three meetings between these sides at Fir Park.
Betting tip: If the recent high-scoring run in Motherwell v St Johnstone games is to continue, then you’ll want to make the most of it! A bet on more than 3.5 goals is worth considering and is priced at odds of 2/1.
