It’s an odd SPL weekend in store, in the sense that all six games kick off at 3pm on Saturday. So we’ll see Aberdeen take on Kilmarnock at the same time as Celtic host St Mirren, while Dundee United welcome Inverness and Motherwell make the trip to Hibernian. The two promoted sides, Ross County and Dundee, also square off, as do St Johnstone and Hearts.

Saturday, December 15th
Aberdeen v Kilmarnock (3.00pm)
Home win: 9/10 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 27/10
Key stat: Aberdeen have scored just one first-half goal in six games – and that even came in first-half stoppage time.
Betting tip: Aberdeen will hope to end a three-game winless streak in the league, but don’t back them to do so in the first half. The Dons have been late starters to games this season so backing a 0-0 score at the break at 2/1 could pay off, while a 1-0 Killie lead at 19/4 or even a 2-0 lead at 33/2 are also decent outside punts.
Celtic v St Mirren (3.00pm)
Home win: 9/50 Draw: 19/4 Away win: 23/2
Key stat: St Mirren have lost seven on the trot against Celtic without even scoring a goal.
Betting tip: It makes a lot of sense to back another Celtic win to nil against the Saints, especially with the Bhoys at home. The 3/4 odds on this eventuality should be a safe bet if recent history is anything to go by. Read our full Celtic v St Mirren betting preview for further evidence on why this odds-on punt looks worth some serious investment.
Dundee United v Inverness (3.00pm)
Home win: 11/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 11/5
Key stat: United haven’t kept a home clean sheet in six games – a run lasting over three months.
Betting tip: With the league’s top scorers – who are yet to be kept off the scoresheet in the SPL this season – coming to town and with Dundee United’s poor defensive record at home, an away goal is close to inevitable. Back the away team to score at 3/10.
Hibernian v Motherwell (3.00pm)
Home win: 31/20 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 31/20
Key stat: Just 14 goals have been scored in the last eight meetings between these two at Easter Road.
Betting tip: There has been an average of under two goals a game when these sides have met in the capital in recent seasons so put your money on an under 2.5 goals bet this weekend at 4/5.
Ross County v Dundee (3.00pm)
Home win: 4/5 Draw: 23/10 Away win: 31/10
Key stat: Dundee have scored in their last three away games after netting just twice in their previous eight trips.
Betting tip: Though they might still be bottom of the table, Dundee are slowly but surely improving. They have scored in three consecutive trips away from Dens Park and are priced at 12/25 to grab a goal when they visit Ross County. That bet could well pay off.
St Johnstone v Hearts (3.00pm)
Home win: 7/5 Draw: 9/4 Away win: 33/20
Key stat: Hearts have won their last two meetings with St Johnstone by a score of 2-0.
Betting tip: With Hearts even winning by a 2-0 scoreline last weekend against Aberdeen, could the Edinburgh side earn a third straight 2-0 win against the Saints? If you think they might, then make your hunch worth something by backing the 11/1 odds for that scoreline on Saturday.
