Saturday, November 3rd
Dundee v Hearts (3.00pm)
Home win: 13/4 Draw: 12/5 Away win: 3/4
Key stat: Dundee’s only win since their return to the top flight was against Hearts.
Betting tip: The odds are 10/1 for a repeat of the 1-0 scoreline that gave Dundee their only win of the season and with Hearts winning just one of their last five, a 1-0 home win wouldn’t be the biggest shock. It’s a decent price worth a cheeky quid or two.
Hibernian v St Mirren (3.00pm)
Home win: 21/20 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 23/10
Key stat: St Mirren have not lost four SPL games in a row since September 2010.
Betting tip: Three losses in a row have put the Saints second-bottom in the table. It will be a tough ask to avoid a fourth consecutive loss against second-placed Hibs, but history shows St Mirren rarely lose four on the trot. That makes a double chance bet on an away win or draw, at 7/10, very interesting.
Kilmarnock v Inverness (3.00pm)
Home win: 29/20 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 33/20
Key stat: These two met at Rugby Park twice last season, with a whopping 16 goals split between the two games.
Betting tip: The two matches these sides played in Kilmarnock last year were some of the most exciting of the season. There may not be another 4-3 or 3-6 this time round, but with Inverness the league’s top scorers, backing over 4.5 goals looks a cracking punt at odds of 17/4.
Ross County v Aberdeen (3.00pm)
Home win: 19/10 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 5/4
Key stat: Aberdeen have conceded first in three out of their last four away games, but didn’t lose any of them.
Betting tip: Despite their midweek League Cup penalty shoot-out heartache, third-placed Aberdeen are firm favourites for this one so it would be smart to back the 5/4 away win bet. Backing Ross County to score first, though, could also pay off and is priced at 6/5.
St Johnstone v Motherwell (3.00pm)
Home win: 5/4 Draw: 11/5 Away win: 19/10
Key stat: St Johnstone’s eight-game unbeaten run came to an end on Tuesday at Celtic Park.
Betting tip: That 5-0 League Cup defeat ended an impressive Saints run. Now they have to get back on track against a Motherwell side that they haven’t beaten in four matches, making a bet on the Saints not to take three points look a smart one. A Motherwell win/draw double chance bet is on offer at 4/7.
Sunday, November 4th
Dundee United v Celtic (12.45pm)
Home win: 19/4 Draw: 13/5 Away win: 11/20
Key stat: Celtic have opened the scoring in their last seven away games in all competitions.
Betting tip: After a disappointing home loss last week, the Bhoys will be keen to get off to a quick start in Dundee on Sunday. They are priced at 9/20 to score first and have proved this season that they are certainly capable of doing so on the road – so back a repeat at Tannadice.
