It’s been a frustrating start for new Hibs manager Pat Fenlon.
Two weekends ago he was a helpless spectator as he watched on from the stands as his new side slumped to a 3-1 defeat at St Johnstone.
Then, last Friday night he suffered the ultimate frustration when his first full match in charge, against Motherwell, was abandoned at half-time with his team leading 1-0.
Fenlon will be hoping to finally get his Hibs career up and running on Saturday when Rangers visit Edinburgh’s East End, but the odds are stacked against the side from the capital.
It’s been 12 SPL games since Hibs last beat Rangers at Easter Road, during which time they have won more points against their Glasgow rivals at Ibrox (seven) than they have on home soil (four).
On top of that, it’s been three full games since Hibs even managed a goal against Rangers at home, while they have conceded an average of 2.5 goals per game in their last four home meetings.

Bwin are offering odds of 13/10 on a Rangers win to nil, while the visitors are 27/20 to win with over 2.5 goals scored in the match.
Hibs might protest that past results are irrelevant to the here and now, but even in the present the stats don’t look good for them. They have won only once on their own patch so far this season, while Rangers have won seven out of eight on the road.
Rangers are 12/25 with bwin to pick up their eighth away win on Saturday, while Hibs are strong outsiders, priced at 23/4 to shock the SPL champions.
Ally McCoist’s men haven’t drawn an away SPL game all season, but if you fancy that statistic to change on Saturday the draw is on offer at 29/10.
Despite Rangers being overwhelming favourites, it is never easy to play against a side with a new manager, and this could be Hibs’ best chance of springing a surprise.
They haven’t kept a clean sheet against Rangers in Edinburgh for eight games though, so a home win to nil at 33/4 seems unlikely.
Instead, punters determined to back a home win might be tempted by odds of 37/2 on a 2-1 result.
