When the transfer window slammed shut last week, many Rangers fans were left
frustrated and disappointed by the lack of big signings arriving at Ibrox, but at least there are some new faces for the Gers faithful to get excited about.
US duo Carlos Bocanegra and Alejandro Bedoya both made their debuts at home to Aberdeen before the international break and they are joined in the dressing room by Australian international Matt McKay, who is expected to make his debut this weekend against Dundee United at Tannadice.
The trio join Dorin Goian, Lee Wallace, Kyle Bartley and Juan Ortiz, who were all
added by boss Ally McCoist during the summer, in giving Rangers some much-needed freshness as they look to defend their SPL title.
United, on the other hand, must be casting envious glances towards the Ibrox
entry door. With the fans still coming to terms with star striker David Goodwillie’s
summer move to Blackburn, the signings of young Fulham duo Lauri Dalla Valle and Keanu Marsh-Brown are unlikely to capture their imagination.
The Tangerines will be desperately hoping that the new boys can provide some firepower up front, with last fortnight’s 3-3 draw at St Johnstone the only time that United have found the net more than once in six SPL games this season.
Rangers are 11/25 to win the game in 90 minutes, while United can be backed at a whopping 6/1 and a draw is priced at 31/10.
With Bocanegra shoring up Rangers’ defensive line and Dalla Valle and Marsh-Brown in contention to start up front for United, it will be interesting to see how that key battle pans out.
United are 3/4 to score during the game, but more tempting is a price of 13/5 on them to score the first goal.
On the other hand, bwin are offering odds of 5/4 on Rangers to win to nil. New
customers who use their free £25 bet on this market stand to win £60 if successful.
It is worth noting that the Gers have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four visits to Tannadice in the SPL – they are available at to blunt United’s attack once more on Saturday.
McCoist will be hoping for a similar outcome to last season’s corresponding fixture, which Rangers won 4-0, and football betting fans can back a repeat scoreline at odds of 31/2.
