Celtic will move to the top of the Scottish Premier League table with a win at Aberdeen in today’s early SPL kick-off.
The Bhoys have only played one league game this season, although the three points they earned with a 2-0 win over Hibernian on the opening weekend of the campaign mean they are still no worse than fifth place in the table and just two points behind early leaders Dundee United.
Despite playing two games to their opponents’ one, Aberdeen are behind Celtic in the table having only picked up a single point so far.
With this in mind, it appears likely that Celtic will continue a run which has seen them win their last four SPL games.
This certainly appears the case when bwin’s 3Way football betting market is taken into consideration, with Neil Lennon’s side the strong favourites to earn all three points.
Celtic are priced at 7/25 to record an away success, while a draw and Aberdeen win are available at odds of 4/1 and 27/4 respectively.
One of the factors which makes the Bhoys such strong favourites is the difficulty Aberdeen have had in finding the back of the net in recent times.
They have yet to score in the SPL so far this season, and with Celtic’s defence being the meanest in the division last time around Craig Brown’s men are likely to struggle again this afternoon.
The Hoops conceded 22 goals in the 2010-11 SPL season at an average of 0.58 a game.
With this in mind, betting on Celtic to keep a clean sheet at Pittodrie could be a good option at odds of 83/100.
A successful £25 free bet on Aberdeen failing to score, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £45.75.
The final nail in Aberdeen’s coffin comes with the news that Celtic have won nine of the last ten fixtures between the two sides, with the remaining game ending in a draw.
And with the last two results ending 3-0 and 4-0 to Celtic, there is a good chance there will be more than 2.5 goals in today’s match.
As such, punters could choose to bet on there being at least three goals at odds of 13/20.
