Rangers round off preparations for their SPL title defence with a trip to face Blackpool at Bloomfield Road this evening.
Scottish champions for the past three seasons, the Gers have had a worrying pre-season campaign so far.
Their first three games all ended in defeat, with a 1-0 loss to Sportfreunde Lotte followed up by 3-0 and 2-0 reverses against VFL Bochum and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.
While Rangers recovered from this string of results with a 4-1 win against Linfield in their last outing, the fact that the Glasgow side are still finding their feet under new manager Ally McCoist is undeniable.
With this in mind, the realisation that Rangers go into the match against Blackpool as 11/10 favourites could be considered something of a surprise.
But what bwin’s 3Way football betting market also takes into account is the differing levels of groundwork the two teams have put in prior to the match.
Rangers’ SPL campaign kicks off on Saturday with a home tie against Hearts, while Blackpool do not get their Championship season underway until Friday, 5th August with a trip to Hull.
As such, Blackpool are a long way behind Rangers in terms of preparation – indeed, they have yet to play a pre-season friendly.
This is something that Blackpool left-back Stephen Crainey is all too well aware.
Nevertheless, he is approaching the match with optimism rather than trepidation.
“Rangers obviously start their season on Saturday and will be looking to build towards that,” he commented.
“They’ll be really fit because they’re a few weeks ahead of us but it will be a great test for us. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Those who think Blackpool can hit the ground running can back the Tangerines to win at odds of 41/20, with a draw priced at 9/4.
With Rangers having failed to keep a clean sheet in their four matches so far, a safer bet could be on odds of 57/100 for both teams to score in the match.
A £25 free bet on both sides to score, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £39.25.
