Hearts will be looking to build on their first win in 20 weeks when they visit third-place Motherwell.
The Jambos beat Hungarian side Paks in midweek to end a run of 11 games without a victory, although the poor form of the Edinburgh side had already cost manager Jim Jefferies his job.
Former Porto boss Paulo Sergio took charge of the match against Paks and will be in the dugout for his first league game as Hearts manager after replacing Jefferies in the hot-seat at Tynecastle.
However, Hearts will have to overcome the odds if they are to make it two wins in a row.
Motherwell are 7/5 favourites to win the match in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, with a Hearts win priced at 8/5 and a draw available at 11/5.
The Steelmen have started the season with a 3-0 home win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle and a 0-0 draw at Kilmarnock.
That said, their recent form has not been much better than that of Hearts, with just a solitary win recorded in their final six league matches last season.
With this in mind, Hearts could yet get something out of the game at Fir Park, and the last fixture between the two sides at Motherwell’s home ground offers further encouragement.
The Jambos recorded a 2-1 victory over Well in December last year and they are unbeaten in three games against their opponents this afternoon.
Statistics from last year’s league campaign also point towards a win for Hearts given they scored more goals in away matches than Motherwell did at home.
A successful £25 free bet on Hearts to beat Motherwell, available to new customers who sign up for a bwin account, would return £65.
However, the best option could be to bet on there being more than 1.5 goals in the second half.
This is based on the assumption that Hearts, who scored more goals in the second half than they did in the first half last season, can take advantage of Motherwell’s vulnerability after the break.
Well conceded 62 per cent of their goals after the interval last year, while Hearts scored 62 per cent of their goals in the second period.
