Promoted side Dunfermline entertain Motherwell at East End Park on Saturday
in a clash that pits together two teams who have made impressive starts to the
Scottish Premier League.
Although Motherwell come into the match on the back of a 3-0 home league defeat at the hands of Rangers, Stuart McCall’s men got their season off to a flyer
with three wins and a draw, including four clean sheets.
The Steelmen also thumped Clyde 4-0 in the League Cup on Wednesday night,
with McCall choosing to rest key players Steve Jennings and Stephen Craigan.
Motherwell are currently second in the SPL with ten points, although they have
played an extra game over the sides around them, including fourth-placed Dunfermline. A victory on Saturday would send Motherwell back to the top of the SPL.
Since being promoted to the top flight, Dunfermline are unbeaten in four
matches, including two back-to-back1-0 away wins at St Johnstone and Dundee
United. However, the Pars have yet to taste victory in front of their home fans
in the SPL this term and were also dumped out of the League Cup on Wednesday in a shock defeat against East Fife.
Motherwell, who finished sixth last season, can be backed at 16/11 to snatch
all three points in bwin’s 3Way football betting market, while the home
side are priced at 24/13. The draw is priced at 21/10, which suggests the layers are predicting a tight match.
Punters using their free £25 bet for joining bwin.com on a Motherwell victory will be guaranteed a return of £61.25 if the result comes in.
On paper, an away win flies in the face of the formbook; Dunfermline have won six of the previous ten encounters between the sides, with Motherwell recording just two victories.
However, they haven’t faced each other since 2007 and Motherwell look a solid bet for this clash. It might also be worth considering a bet on a 1-0 scoreline in favour of the visitors, which is priced at 29/4.
