Kick-off: 1500, 04/02/2023
Stadium: Molineux
There was little between Wolves and Liverpool in two FA Cup clashes recently and another close encounter is on the cards in the Premier League.
Wanderers are fighting for top-flight survival and are again fancied to test a Reds outfit which is struggling to find top form.
Punters can get 14/5 for a Molineux stalemate and that is our first Wolves vs Liverpool prediction.
Wolverhampton Wanderers Odds
Wolves were a touch unlucky not to beat Liverpool when drawing 2-2 at Anfield in the cup, before going down 1-0 in a replay at this venue.
In the Premier League, results have improved since the arrival of Julen Lopetegui, with two wins and a draw from five games.
Everton and West Ham were beaten in tight tussles, there was a solid 1-1 stalemate at Aston Villa and the losses came against the two Manchester clubs.
Lopetegui has been busy in the transfer market as well, with Flamengo midfielder Joao Gomes among a host of fresh reinforcements.
Mario Lemina, Pablo Sarabia, Matheus Cunha, Craig Dawson and Dan Bentley will add more experience to the squad.
With Wolves now fourth from bottom, but only above the drop zone on goal difference, Lopetegui said: “We have improved different things.
“We were in the last position when I arrived here but it is going to be a very long race for all the teams.
“Our main aim is to get out of the last match with no relegation. We have four exciting and difficult months. We have to be ready.”
Wanderers have struggled to score goals this term, but have tightened up at the back under Lopetegui.
Looking at the Wolves vs Liverpool odds, we like 9/2 for the scores to be level at half-time and full-time.
Last Wolves line-up: Jose Sa, Collins, Semedo, Kilman, Bueno, Lemina, Neves, Nunez, Jimenez, Hwang, Traore.
Liverpool Odds
Liverpool’s narrow cup win at this venue was their only victory in six outings in all competitions.
Since the turn of the year, they have picked up just one point from three league games, losing away to Brentford and Brighton before drawing 0-0 at home to Chelsea.
Last Sunday brought more disappointment in the FA Cup via a 2-1 defeat at Brighton, despite taking the lead through Harvey Elliott.
Lewis Dunk’s lucky deflection levelled things up and Japan star Kaoru Mitoma volleyed in a dramatic late winner to knock the holders out.
Andy Robertson told ITV: “We need to start winning games. It’s easy to say and harder to fix.
“This season has been nowhere near good enough. We wanted a new start at the turn of the year. If anything, we’ve been worse.
“You can’t put your finger on one thing that’s gone wrong, it’s more than that.
“You can tell we’re not confident in front of goal and we’re still a bit open defensively. We need to get our confidence back.”
It would be no surprise to see both sides adopt a cagey approach in the early stages of this match.
That makes 21/10 for no goals to be scored in the first half worth adding to our Wolves vs Liverpool betting tips.
Last Liverpool EPL line-up: Alisson, Gomez, Konate, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Thiago, Keita, Bajcetic, Salah, Gakpo, Elliott.
