Leroy Sane’s name will be a familiar one to those who peruse gossip columns, with the Schalke man constantly linked to a number of clubs.
The latest development in the transfer saga is that two of the Premier League’s big six will have to fight it out with each other in order to secure his signature.
According to The Guardian, Chelsea and Liverpool are two teams interested in bringing in the German winger.
It’s easy to understand why the Premier League sides are fighting over the young winger given his performances in the Bundesliga this season.
The 20-year-old has found the net five times, while providing four assists, in 22 league appearances, with only 15 of those being starts.
Sane has also been recognised internationally and was called up by Joachim Low last year to make his debut for Germany at just 19 years old.
He has also excelled for his nation’s Under 21 side, scoring seven times in just four appearances.
Choosing between Chelsea and Liverpool may be seen as a tough choice, but for Sane the decision couldn’t be clearer.
Jurgen Klopp’s tenure at the Reds should be enough to convince his compatriot to come and join him at Anfield.
The 48-year-old manager has a good history of nurturing young talent and is especially good at moulding players who come from his homeland.
Mario Gotze, Mats Hummels and Marco Reus have all become world class players under Klopp’s tutelage and Sane should head to Merseyside if he wants to follow suit.
Conversely, the managerial situation at Chelsea is still unclear and the young winger could find himself stuck with a boss who doesn’t know how to nurture potential.
Similarly, the Blues have an alarming history of letting young talent go to waste due to their desire for immediate success, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku not given a fair chance at Stamford Bridge.
