West Ham will travel to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday to make amends for last weekend’s agonising loss against Manchester United.
Bolton are priced at 11/10 to win at the Reebok and their home record of four wins in the last six would suggest this is a wise bet, with a successful £10 stake returning £31 at bwin.
But after squandering a two-goal lead over the Red Devils at Upton Park, Avram Grant’s men will be looking to show they have got what it takes to stay in the Premier League.
They will also be encouraged by the fact that Bolton have suffered two defeats on the trot at Birmingham and Blackpool and may have one eye on next weekend’s FA Cup semi-final against Stoke.
However, the Trotters can boast the psychological advantage, having come out on top 3-1 when the two sides met in east London last August.
Wanderers will also welcome the return of 30-year-old defender Zat Knight, who is back in the squad after recovering from a knee injury picked up in February.
With Grant consigned to the stands as he serves a two-match dugout ban, West Ham will no doubt look to talismanic skipper Scott Parker – who has been nominated for the PFA player of the year award – to provide some insipration.
And an away win, priced at 12/5 with bwin.com, would certainly help ease that sinking feeling for the Irons, who are just two places and two points off the bottom.
Alternatively, punters considering betting on an anytime goalscorer at the Reebok could be tempted by Bolton’s Johan Elmander, who has decent odds of 17/10 to hit the back of the net at some stage.
A successful £10 bet on West Ham to beat Bolton would return £34. New customers can register here to receive a £25 free bet.
