Arsene Wenger admits that attempting to pick his players up after their chances of winning silverware evaporated last spring was his toughest task as manager.
Arsenal were challenging on four fronts until February, when defeat in the Carling Cup final to Birmingham sparked a collapse of dramatic proportions.
Champions League and FA Cup exits followed soon after and the Gunners also squandered a promising position in the league.
The Frenchman said the final weeks of the last campaign were the most difficult of his career but believes the Gunners are ready to bounce back and prove they have what it takes to claim the title for the first time since 2004.
Arsenal are fourth-favourites to win the Premier League in bwin’s football betting market with odds of 13/2.
A successful £25 free bet on Arsenal to finish first, available to new customers who sign up for a new account, would return £187.50.
“I believe that the real destiny of this team is now there,” Wenger commented.
“They know as well as I know that we were very, very close last season.
“You say, ‘Okay, we missed our chance’, or you say, in our position, ‘Let’s show everybody that we can do it and come back stronger’ – which is what I think we can do because we are a young team and we can only be better.”
Arsenal’s first game of the new campaign will be away to Newcastle at St James’ Park on Saturday, 13th August.
Early Newcastle v Arsenal betting makes the Gunners 4/5 favourites to start their title tilt with a win and earn all three points.
