There are only four more sleeps until the transfer window brings in 2015 by reopening and letting all manner of rumours swirl around, but football writers have been stealing a march with reams of copy worth of gossip.
One in particular that caught news.bwin.com/en/’s beady eyes came from The Daily Mirror, who claim Arsene Wenger will go back to his trusty method of recruiting Frenchman ahead of their Champions League last-16 tilt.
Arsenal have been linked with relatively unknown Frenchman Loic Perrin, the 29-year-old captain of Saint-Etienne.
Despite making over 200 appearances for his hometown club over the past 12 years, and turning out four times for his country’s Under-21 team in the middle of the last decade, Perrin is yet to be capped by France’s seniors.
Whether that means he’s actually not that great remains to be seen.
Liverpool are rumoured to be making eyes at pretty much every striker who might be available this January, including Paris Saint-Germain’s Argentine hotshot Ezequiel Lavezzi, but recent news brought to us by The Express suggests they may well get this one.
Lavezzi will reportedly not be offered a new contract by PSG, and with his current deal set to expire in 18 months the Ligue 1 champions could be forced to sell soon if the right offer comes in.
Spurs are also thought to be interested in the 29-year-old, and Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy is known to love a bargain…
Also in The Express, Chelsea are said to be ‘ahead in the chase’ nobody really knew was being run for spectacularly named young Brazilian Malcolm Silva, of Corinthians.
Manchester United and Arsenal are also reportedly in this ‘race’, but if any of the three Premier League giants sign Silva in January news.bwin.com/en/ will eat the crepe paper hat that came in the Xmas cracker.
